Desmond Bane's hot hand will be key for the Magic as an ATS underdog tonight.

The Phoenix Suns are priced as a slim 1.5-point home favorite tonight against the Orlando Magic, with tip-off scheduled for 9 p.m. ET at Mortgage Matchup Center.

But my Magic vs. Suns predictions back Orlando against the spread, largely because of Phoenix's horrendous defense.

Read more in my NBA picks for Thursday, Nov. 5.

Magic vs Suns prediction: Magic +1.5

Play up to 57%.

The Orlando Magic haven't been great this season, but I like them to cover a modest spread tonight. The Phoenix Suns rank dead last in defensive rating and allowed 132 points to the Trail Blazers on Wednesday night.

Phoenix is also allowing a 57.1% opponent effective field-goal percentage, ranking 28th in the Association. That's an encouraging matchup for an Orlando offense that's struggled without Paolo Banchero.

The Suns are heading into the second night of a back-to-back, while the Magic have fresher legs, having last played Monday. Phoenix has also lost four straight, allowing at least 120 points in three of those defeats.

Orlando has won two of its three road games, and I expect the visitors to exploit Phoenix's defensive issues.

Magic vs Suns combo

Despite Phoenix's defensive vulnerabilities, neither team is offensively efficient. Orlando is 28th in ppg, while the Suns rank 17th.

The Magic have been limited to under 100 points in two straight games, while Phoenix is playing on the second night of a back-to-back. The Under is a cleaner look.

I'm rounding out this combo with Miles Bridges draining two or more threes. He's hit the Over in two straight outings, going 7-for-12 combined. The Magic are also allowing over two makes per game from downtown to power forwards.

Magic vs Suns combo

  • Magic +1.5
  • Under 223.5
  • Miles Bridges Over 1.5 threes

Magic vs Suns player props

 TOP PICK
Suns player prop: Devin Booker Over 24.5 points

Play up to 60%.

The Suns may be struggling, but Devin Booker is still an offensive juggernaut. The Kentucky product is averaging 24.7 ppg, which leads the team, and he also has the highest usage rate at 27.2%.

Book enters this clash in good form, clearing tonight's line in consecutive appearances. He dropped 26 on the Warriors on Nov. 3 before balling out for 33 in the loss to Portland on Wednesday.

The Magic are missing two of their top defenders, Banchero and Jalen Suggs, and Orlando ranks 25th in defensive rating. Booker has also cashed the Over in points in two of his last three home outings.

He'll show out.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Booker has attempted 37 field goals and 21 free throws across his last two games, converting all 21 attempts at the charity stripe. That combination of shot volume and foul-drawing helped him score 59 points despite shooting just 45.9% from the field.

Magic player prop: Desmond Bane Over 3.5 threes

Play up to 47%.

Desmond Bane is making it rain from downtown, draining 37.3% of his triples. The guard is averaging 3.6 makes on a lofty 9.6 attempts per contest, and I expect his volume to be high again tonight against a Suns defense that is allowing 5.1 triples per game to opposing shooting guards.

Bane is also on fire. He's hit the Over in three straight outings, and he's attempted at least nine 3-pointers in each.

With a hot hand and a vulnerable defense on the other side, this is a prime opportunity for Bane to find a rhythm from beyond the arc.
