Against the spread (ATS) pick

The Nets were dealt an unexpected blow when they found out that LaMarcus Aldridge had to retire. Aldridge was a nice signing for Brooklyn’s bench, and the team will definitely miss his ability to score on the second unit. Still, the Nets should be able to handle the Hornets rather easily in this game.

After sitting out in Wednesday’s meeting with Philadelphia, Kevin Durant will be back in the lineup for the Nets, and he should really be able to dominate in a game like this. The Hornets get up and down the floor in a hurry, and this team isn’t anything too special defensively. Look for Durant to efficiently put up something like 30 points in this one, and don’t be surprised if Kyrie Irving also has his way tonight.

The Hornets have a nice backcourt when they’re fully healthy, but with no LaMelo Ball or Devonte’ Graham, they’re going to have a hard time keeping up with this Brooklyn offense.

PREDICTION: Nets -12.5 (-110)

Over/Under pick

The Hornets have considerably slowed their pace since Ball went down, and the team is actually third to last in the league in pace over the last 10 games. Meanwhile, the Nets are 13th in the league in pace in that same span, so it’s not like Brooklyn is going out of its way to get up and down the floor. This game should be played somewhat slow.

The Nets might go out and perform at a high level offensively, but a lot of that will be because of Irving and Durant being two of the best isolation scorers in the World. Also, if this does turn into a blowout, it’s more likely to go Under.

PREDICTION: Under 223.5 (-110)

Player prop pick

The Hornets are down a lot of their weapons, which means Terry Rozier is going to have the ultimate green light in this game. Brooklyn is capable of being a sound team defensively, but with enough shots, Rozier will be able to put up a big number here. He generally brings his game to another level in big spots, so he’ll enjoy facing some of the most talented players in the world tonight.

PREDICTION: Terry Rozier Over 23.5 Points (-125)
