Expert NBA ATS picks: Nov. 8

76ers (-9.5) vs Bulls: 76ers 76ers -9.5

The Chicago Bulls have lost six straight games, with four of those losses coming by double digits. The Philadelphia 76ers will have every opportunity to work out some of their offensive issues against a Bulls team ranked last in defensive rating (124.3) this season.

Lakers vs Pistons (-4.5): Lakers Lakers +4.5

The Los Angeles Lakers have the best record in the NBA and have covered in four straight games coming into tonight. With the best offense in the league behind Luka Doncic (40.1 ppg), I like the Lakers to cover on the road against a strong Detroit Pistons team.

Jazz vs Timberwolves (-11.5): Timberwolves Timberwolves -11.5

The Utah Jazz have covered only once this season, while the Minnesota Timberwolves are 9-1 ATS this year. Even without Anthony Edwards in the lineup, Minnesota should win this game going away.

Nets vs Mavericks (-7.5): Nets Nets +7.5

The Dallas Mavericks are clearly the better team, especially defensively, but the Brooklyn Nets will slow this game down and keep it close. The Nets have covered in four straight and will make it five tonight.

Celtics (-12.5) vs Bucks: Bucks Bucks +12.5

The Milwaukee Bucks (1-8) may be awful, but they lost by just seven to the Boston Celtics on the road earlier in the week. The Celtics should win, but this spread is too big for a Boston team that's 2-4 ATS in its last six.

Heat (-10.5) vs Kings: Kings Kings +10.5

This Sacramento Kings team has shown it can get blown out badly, but typically only by good teams and usually on the road. At home against a Miami Heat squad that has gone 0-3 ATS on its current road trip, I like the Kings to cover as a double-digit underdog.

Pelicans (-1.5) vs Clippers: Pelicans Pelicans -1.5

While they just had a four-game winning streak broken, the New Orleans Pelicans deserve to be a larger favorite even on the road against a Los Angeles Clippers team that ranks in the bottom 10 for both offensive and defensive efficiency this season.

Since joining Covers in 2022, Ed has offered his sports betting analysis primarily on MLB, NFL, college football, and college basketball games, but is willing to take on any sport.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
