Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Brayan Bello has struggled to record strikeouts all season long, averaging just 3.7 per game while going Under today’s total (4.5) in eight of 10 starts.

My Yankees vs. Red Sox predictions expect his strikeout woes to continue against a team that has shown a lot of discipline at the plate lately. Let’s break it all down with my MLB picks for June 15.

Yankees vs Red Sox prediction

My Yankees vs Red Sox best bet: Brayan Bello Under 4.5 strikeouts (-142 at Caesars)

Brayan Bello is not much of a strikeout pitcher. He has just 37 punchouts through 52 innings of work this season, equating to 3.55 per five innings pitched. He's also averaging fewer than 16 outs per start. Put another way, he’s right on the line of five innings per start.

Bello has lasted five innings or less in 60% of his starts. Of the four teams he managed to last longer against, none ranked in the Top 10 in on-base percentage.

He’s only lasting in games against mediocre to bad offenses. The New York Yankees certainly don’t fit that criteria.

They rank third in on-base percentage against right-handed starters on the season. They hold the exact same slot when isolating the past couple of weeks. Their offense is in strong form.

New York is also doing a great job of limiting strikeouts. Only five teams have a lower strikeout rate against righties in June. Bello is consistently pulled from games early, and that will likely be the case again against a potent Yankees offense.

He’ll need to be efficient to clear this line, averaging a strikeout per inning. That's not something he’s shown the ability to do this season, as evidenced by his low strikeout totals (37 in 52 innings).

Look for the Yankees to grind out some long at-bats and get on base at a high clip, keeping strikeouts low along the way.

Caesars QuickPick: Our Yankees vs Red Sox same-game parlay (SGP)

Brayan Bello Under 4.5 strikeouts

Trent Grisham Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI

Yankees moneyline

Trent Grisham is a little cold at the dish, but a date with Bello could be just what the doctor ordered. He's excelled against right-handed pitching, hitting .262 on the season. He's also performed better on the road than at home, clearing this line at a healthy 63% clip in away games.

The splits are favorable to Grisham from Bello’s perspective as well. He's been OK against righties, but left-handed bats are hitting a whopping .292 on the season.

Lastly, I expect the Yankees to take care of business. They haven’t lost three straight since May and have done so only twice all season. Their trend of snapping losing streaks before they get out of hand should continue. Not only do they profile well against a hittable pitcher in Bello, they’re throwing their ace on the mound in Max Fried.

He's as dominant as they come, owning a 9-1 record and allowing more than two runs in a start only once all season. The Yankees should be able to score against Bello, giving Fried all the run support he needs to lead them to victory.
