Early Titans vs 49ers spread pick: 49ers -12.5
The Tennessee Titans got just their second win of the season on Sunday with a 31-29 victory over the Browns, but they’re actually 6-7 against the spread, going 3-3 ATS on the road.
Given their record, it’s not factually correct to say that this is a team clicking, but they’re finding some momentum. With the right offensive line additions in the offseason and a veteran pass catcher, they could improve exponentially next season. They’ve covered in four of their past five and stand a chance here.
However, with the extra rest and healing time associated with the bye week, I’d have to lean with the San Francisco 49ers covering.
They’re 8-5 ATS this season and have covered in three straight. They’re in the best division in football, but with Brock Purdy healthy and other players returning, they can make a playoff push and could be a big danger to other teams if they make it.
Early Titans vs 49ers total pick: Over 44.5
Picking the spread feels like a close call this week, but I have far more confidence in smashing the Over.
Cam Ward is doing very well when you consider the state of the line protecting him and the lack of experience at WR.
The Titans have averaged just 15.5 points per game this season, but they’ve turned a corner. They put up 31 points on a good Browns defense that ranks fourth in defensive DVOA, 24 points against the No.1 Seahawks, and 13 against the Texans, who rank second.
This Niners defense is solid, but shouldn’t scare the Titans, and I expect the improving offense to put up points.
We’ve seen the Over land in eight of 13 Titans games, and five of their past seven.
With Kyle Shanahan's offensive mind leading a well-rested team with Purdy, George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, Rickey Pearsall, and Jauan Jennings all without injury designations, San Francisco will put up big numbers.
