The New York Mets hope the return of Juan Soto finally gets them off their 12-game losing streak as they host the Minnesota Twins in the second game of their series on Wednesday night.

With New York getting reinforcements and Minnesota starting an untested pitcher, I like the home team to snap its skid in my Twins vs. Mets predictions.

Who will win Twins vs Mets today: Mets -1.5 (+140)

Juan Soto returns to the New York Mets lineup tonight, and he’s desperately needed.

The Mets have scored just 13 total runs over their last eight games heading into tonight’s contest, and bringing back Soto’s .355 batting average and .412 OBP is the spark they're looking for.

New York will also benefit from Minnesota calling up left-hander Connor Prielipp for his MLB debut. Prielipp posted a 4.03 ERA across 82.2 innings of minor league action in 2025.

Meanwhile, Mets starter Clay Holmes sports a 1.96 ERA through four starts, and the righty should help New York pull away at Citi Field.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Prielipp has struggled with control at the minor league level, allowing 3.5 walks per nine innings with a career WHIP of 1.379.

Twins vs Mets Over/Under pick: Over 7.5 (-115)

The Mets' offense showed vague signs of life last night when Francisco Lindor hit a three-run homer. Minnesota eventually pushed through runs as well, and even in a game where both starting pitchers were excellent, the total of 7.5 proved too low.

I expect a similar outcome tonight. The Twins are scoring 5.09 runs per game, and they’ll get into the New York bullpen, as Holmes is averaging only 5.8 innings per start.

As I noted above, I also expect the Mets to find success against Prielipp in his debut start. I’m taking the Over again in this game.

Since joining Covers in 2022, Ed has offered his sports betting analysis primarily on MLB, NFL, college football, and college basketball games, but is willing to take on any sport.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
