Colorado has been generally dreadful this season, but one thing they do well is hit lefties. Facing the Dodgers' David Price tonight, that's enough reason for us to jump on the big MLB betting value the Rockies are offering as heavy underdogs tonight.

The Los Angeles Dodgers just dropped three of four to divisional-rival San Francisco but will look to lick their wounds and rebound with a three-game home series against the Colorado Rockies, starting with tonight's matchup.

Los Angeles took two of three at Colorado last weekend and is 8-2 against the Rockies this season. The Dodgers are, unsurprisingly, massive MLB betting favorites for tonight's contest.

Starting pitchers

Chi Chi Gonzalez (3-6, 5.99 ERA): Gonzalez pitched against the Dodgers in his last trip to the mound, and the righty gave up seven earned runs on nine hits in just four innings of work. Prior to that outing, he had allowed just six earned runs in his last 17 innings on the mound, so it might have just been a bad combination of facing a good team at Coors Field. He is, however, facing that same offense tonight — and his road ERA is 6.64, which is worse than his one in Colorado.

David Price LHP (4-0, 3.12 ERA): Price has served as both a starter and a reliever this season, and he still isn’t anywhere near stretched out right now. In his last trip to the hill, he gave up one earned run in four innings of work against this Rockies team on July 18. Another outing like that would be perfect for the Dodgers, especially against a starter who they shelled last game.

Moneyline pick

This game is one you’ll probably want to avoid, as the value just isn’t there to take the Dodgers. Los Angeles is the heavy favorite to win this game, as the team has a better lineup and the much better pitcher on the mound.

However, if you’re looking to throw something on this game, you’re better off just sprinkling a little on the Rockies moneyline.

While things are somewhat stacked against them, they do have a somewhat reasonable chance of pulling this out. For starters, the Rockies have the fourth-best batting average in baseball against left-handed pitching, setting them up for a decent run at Price in this game. C.J. Cron is somebody that could make an impact for the Rockies here, as he is 9 for 28 with three doubles, a homer, and four RBIs against Price in his career.

Gonzalez is certainly a question mark for Colorado, as he really struggled against Los Angeles in his last start. But that game was in Coors Field, and this Dodgers lineup is not as good as the one he faced last week — that’ll be especially true if Betts ends up sitting.

PREDICTION: Rockies (+225)

Over/Under pick

This total is somewhat suspiciously low when considering that Gonzalez pitched against this Dodgers team last week and the game saw 14 total runs scored, but it’s still hard to come up with any reasons to back the Under.

Even with a depleted lineup, Los Angeles should be able to score a decent amount of runs against the righty in this game. It might not be 10 runs again, but five or six is certainly attainable.

Meanwhile, the Rockies should also plate a few against Price in this game — lean on the Over tonight.

PREDICTION: Over 9.0 (-115)
