The Boston Red Sox take on the Philadelphia Phillies tonight in a key MLB matchup.

With Cristopher Sanchez on the mound for Philly, our Red Sox vs. Phillies predictions ride the hot hand of the lefty, who’s been dealing lately and looks poised for another strong outing.

Here are my free MLB picks for this interleague clash on July 22.

Red Sox vs Phillies prediction

My Red Sox vs Phillies best bet: Cristopher Sanchez Over 18.5 outs (+140 at DraftKings)

Cristopher Sanchez was one of the biggest All-Star snubs this year, missing the game despite pitching to a 2.50 ERA through 115 innings. He's been on fire since the beginning of June, posting a 1.63 ERA with a 0.96 WHIP in his last eight starts.

The Philadelphia Phillies southpaw is in the Top 15th percentile in ground ball rate, barrel rate, and expected ERA (2.99). He's also in the Top 25th percentile in strikeout rate and whiff rate, while the Boston Red Sox are a Bottom 5 team in both categories.

The Red Sox have a strong lineup but are significantly less productive on the road, where their OPS drops to .709. They've struggled to generate offense coming out of the All-Star break, being held to two or fewer runs in three of their last four games.

Sanchez has logged at least 21 outs in six of his previous seven starts, while Philadelphia's bullpen could be fatigued after a heavy workload over the last few days. Getting the Over 18.5 outs for him at +140 is a steal.

Red Sox vs Phillies same-game parlay (SGP)

Cristopher Sanchez Over 18.5 outs

Bryce Harper 2+ total bases

Phillies moneyline

Richard Fitts will toe the rubber for Boston tonight, and he sits in the Bottom 25th percentile in barrel rate, hard hit rate, and xERA (4.81).

Bryce Harper is one of the most feared hitters in the world, and he's been red hot this month, slashing .333/.419/.722. He's slugging .565 at home this year and will have the platoon advantage against Fitts.

The Phillies have gone 32-18 at home while the Sox are 22-28 on the road. With the Phillies boasting a significantly better starter and having home-field advantage, it makes sense to back them on the moneyline. Especially since we're already betting on Sanchez to go deep into this game against a slumping Boston lineup.
