My Rays vs. Guardians predictions are riding with the No. 1 seed on the road today.
The Cleveland Guardians host the Tampa Bay Rays at Progressive Field as 56% favorites at Polymarket, but we're grabbing the underdog at this price. It's an easy investment for our MLB picks, backing a team that finished the regular season with 98 wins.
First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. ET on TBS on Thursday, Oct. 15.

Rays vs Guardians prediction: Rays moneyline
For help understanding probabilities, see our odds calculator.
While we all thought Nick Martinez would get the ball in Game 3, Griffin Jax is getting the nod for the Tampa Bay Rays, at least for the first few innings.
That makes sense to me, considering Jax has held this Guardians lineup to a .221 xBA and .256 xwOBA across 65 plate appearances, including a 0-for-10 mark for leadoff man Steven Kwan.
Gavin Williams gets the ball for the Cleveland Guardians, and while he went deep against the Rays in his lone start against them in April, I'm taking this price and backing the team that can manufacture runs with the best of them.
Who will win Rays vs Guardians?
Tampa Bay Rays: The Rays' splits favor them vs. right-handed pitching, owning a .751 OPS compared to a .678 mark against southpaws. With Tampa's lineup filled with quality left-handed bats in Liam Hicks, Jonathan Aranda, Chandler Simpson, and Victor Mesa Jr., I'll take the AL East's best to get the job done on the road.

Rays vs Guardians combo
The Rays have the lineup structure to not only keep this game close but also win outright, and Diaz will play a big part in that. Tampa Bay's leadoff man owns three extra-base hits and a 1.167 OPS against Williams, which should be enough to push him over this number.
On the other side, while Williams boasts a 33% strikeout rate this year, the Rays have struck out the least of the remaining playoff teams. Look for them to battle and grind Williams down over the course of his start.
Rays vs Guardians combo
- Rays moneyline
- Yandy Diaz 2+ H+R+RBI
- Gavin Williams Under 6.5 strikeouts
Rays vs Guardians player prop: Junior Caminero 2+ total bases
Junior Caminero owns an .812 OPS in the postseason, and while he's had only 10 at-bats against Williams in his career, he's already taken him deep. He's hit 34 of his 42 homers against righties this season and owns a .842 OPS in day games. With Game 3 moved up a few hours due to inclement weather, that bodes well for us.
He ripped a double in Game 2. Let's see him do it one more time in a massive tilt on the road.
Todd Cordell is also bullish on Caminero, highlighting him as one of his favorite Game 3 player props to target.
Rays vs Guardians home run prediction: Jo Adell
Jo Adell is still searching for his first postseason home run, but he's made his presence felt at the plate, driving in eight runs through seven games. He also boasts intriguing power numbers against Jax, highlighted by a .621 xSLG across four at-bats.
Sure, it's a small sample, but there's reason to like the matchup, especially with Adell sporting a 44% hard-hit rate this season, one of the best marks of his career.
Quinn Allen's eyeing three other sluggers to clear the fences in his Rays vs. Guardians home run picks for Game 3.
