MLB Player Props & Best Bets Today for August 14: K-Marte Special

Ketel Marte has been one of the steadiest bats in MLB this season, and especially of late. Drawing a cushy matchup in hitter-friendly Coors Field has us targeting the Over on his total hits prop.

There are just seven games on the baseball schedule for Thursday, August 14, but I’ve found some fantastic MLB player props for the abbreviated slate.

Stars included in my picks today are Ketel Marte, Tarik Skubal, and Kodai Senga.

Best MLB player props today

  • Diamondbacks Marte o1.5 hits (+105)
  • Tigers Skubal u1.5 ER (-149)
  • Mets Senga u1.5 ER (+130)

Our 3 best MLB player props for Thursday, August 14

Take a look at our best bets and expert analysis below.

Ketel Marte Over 1.5 hits (+105 at Caesars)

The Arizona Diamondbacks may be struggling this season, but Ketel Marte is certainly doing his part. The veteran has a .297 average to go along with 23 home runs and 97 RBI. He’s absolutely raking in August, batting .364 (16-for-44) with three doubles, three homers, and 12 RBI.

Marte has cashed Over 1.5 hits in four of his last five games and just went 4-for-9 across his last two contests against the Texas Rangers. Arizona begins a series with the lowly Colorado Rockies tonight at hitter-friendly Coors Field, and Bradley Blalock, who has an ERA over 7.00, is on the mound for the Rox.

Also, Marte is 2-for-4 lifetime against him, and is destroying right-handed pitchers, hitting .321 compared to .254 against lefties.

Tarik Skubal Under 1.5 earned runs (-149 at Caesars)

Tarik Skubal is having another impressive campaign, posting an 11-3 record and 2.37 ERA through 23 starts, and looks primed to win a second straight Cy Young award.

Although Skubal has hit a rough patch over his last two starts, allowing seven earned runs combined to the Los Angeles Angels and Philadelphia Phillies, tonight’s matchup should get him back on track. He’s facing the Minnesota Twins, who are hitting just .150 against him across 60 at-bats. That includes 24 strikeouts.

Before these last two poor outings, Skubal allowed Under 1.5 earned runs in back-to-back appearances. His ERA is even lower on the road, sitting at 2.11. He’ll respond in a big way and dominate the Twins for our MLB picks.

Kodai Senga Under 1.5 earned runs (+130 at DraftKings)

Kodai Senga has emerged as the ace of the New York Mets’ rotation, going 7-4 with a 2.30 ERA in 18 starts. While walks have been an issue at times, he’s managed to put together some very solid numbers.

The Japanese righty has only cashed the Under in earned runs allowed twice in his last five starts. However, he’s pitched well versus the Atlanta Braves in limited action. Across 18 at-bats, their lineup is hitting only .111 with 11 strikeouts.

Senga’s ERA is at 2.42 at home, and Atlanta isn’t the same team offensively this season as it has been in recent campaigns. Having given up just one earned run last time out, Senga will build on that performance and bring his best.
