The San Diego Padres are massive road favorites over the Colorado Rockies ahead of the 3:10 p.m. ET first pitch at Coors Field on Thursday, Sept. 17.

My top Padres vs. Rockies predictions and MLB picks expect Friars righty Michael King and the San Diego lineup to win convincingly at Coors this afternoon.

Who will win Padres vs Rockies today: Padres -1.5

For help understanding probabilities, see our odds calculator.

The San Diego Padres -1.5 run line is in play to 54% because the Colorado Rockies are mired in a 6-22 slide with a 28th-ranked xERA and xFIP.

San Diego is also turning it on offensively down the stretch with a seventh-ranked wOBA and fifth-ranked xwOBA, and starter Michael King has been one of the most reliable righties in the league with his 3.07 ERA ranking 10th among all qualified starters the past three years.

It’s a completely different story for Rockies righty Tanner Gordon. He’s served up a massive .419 wOBA and .980 OPS across his past six starts at hitter-friendly Coors Field.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Colorado Rockies are last in the majors in wRC+, which adjusts for park factors and accounts for the favorable hitting environment at Coors Field.

Padres vs Rockies Over/Under pick: Under 10.5

This is a standard double-digit total for Coors Field, but King and the San Diego bullpen are anything but standard.

King has allowed just 19 earned runs through his past 12 starts while holding opposing hitters to a minuscule .296 wOBA and .662 OPS, and Padres relievers rank third in xERA and first in xFIP over the past 30 days.

This is also a series finale following three consecutive high-scoring games, so I’m anticipating a script flip, with both teams potentially resting a lineup regular or two.

Padres vs Rockies home run prediction: Jackson Merrill

San Diego outfielder Jackson Merrill has already taken Gordon deep once in his career, and the Friars' star has posted a high-end .203 ISO against righties this season and an overall .260 mark across his past 113 plate appearances.

Additionally, alongside Gordon’s noted poor numbers at Coors Field, he’s also surrendered a .276 ISO to left-handed hitters across his six home starts.
