My analysis
The Philadelphia Phillies haven’t missed a beat since Trea Turner went down earlier this month with a strained left hamstring. The star shortstop has been replaced by Bryson Stott, sliding over from second base. Stott has taken on a larger role with Turner out and he’s been doing a fantastic job.
In fact, Stott is turning into a star for the Phillies. The 26-year-old infielder is batting .280 with an .842 OPS in 125 at-bats this season. He’s slugged four home runs with 28 RBI and 26 runs scored.
The batting average has always been there for Stott, who hit .280 last season, but he’s getting on base at a higher clip (.394 vs. 329) and is hitting for a bit more power (.448 SLG vs. .419). It doesn’t hurt that he’s batting around some of the best hitters in the game, regularly slotting in at the No. 5 hole for the Phils.
Stott has gone Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs in eight straight games, 10 of his last 11, and 12 of his last 15 games. He’s been getting on base and coming around to score in most cases thanks to his speed on the basepaths with nine stolen bases in the last 15 games.
