I just find irony in the whole thing. Stu, this shooter was a biological female. Wanted to addressed as he/him.

    Deep. Mind blown.

DrStrangelove is right.  US death rate from gun violence is over 8 times higher than in Canada.  The main difference is that US lacks effective gun control.  Guns make killing efficient and limiting that efficiency is a legitimate goal.  Even a 1% reduction in homicides nationally would result in 2500 fewer deaths over a decade.  American psychological association says if all mental illness is cured, gun violence would only be reduced by 4%.  Availability of guns is more significant than psycho/social factors in gun violence.

    See now your getting it.

Everyone in America can diagnosed with a label for mental illness and all gun ownership based on the opinions of a doctor can be removed because they could be " crazy".

Just another angle to remove all guns and make all gun ownership criminals....

Because then what... Criminals obey laws and stop shooting other people... Yes a law should do the trick... Let Congress act and make laws none can own a gun do to the fact every American is suffering from mental illness....

    Eye roll cough cough ....

Armed guards and steel entry doors on that would make schools prisons....

Taxing ammunition... What about the mineral mining groups... And their lobbying.

Yes Canada has fewer gun related deaths they also have a whole lot less people....

And if we wanted to make America Canada why don't they just move to Canada it actually exists .... And a whole lot easier...

A group of Arizona GOP state lawmakers has called for the immediate firing of Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs’ press secretary over a tweet invoking gun violence against “transphobes.”

Hobbs spokeswoman Josselyn Berry posted the offending tweet on Monday, just hours after Audrey Hale, who was transgender, shot and killed three adults and three children inside a Nashville Christian elementary school.

The tweet included a GIF from the 1980 movie “Gloria,” showing a woman brandishing two handguns.

“Us when we see transphobes,” Berry captioned the image in the tweet.

“Less than 12 hours after the tragic shooting in Nashville by a deranged transgender activist [Hobbs’] Press Secretary calls for shooting people Democrats disagree with,” the Arizona Freedom Caucus tweeted on Tuesday.

Remember the rhetoric tears? It isn't just a Republican thang as you've come to 'believe'

"The Covenant School shooting was horrific," he tweeted. "For everyone who says ‘thoughts & prayers aren’t enough,’ I AGREE. Ask why EVERY SINGLE SENATE DEM voted against my bill doubling police officers in school. One armed officer could have stopped this lunatic, BEFORE a child was killed."

This douche, cherished by the left, picked the school because it was an easy target

So, why on Earth would a sensible person vote against protecting schools better?

Answer: Because they are not sensible. Senseless actually.

While the officers who entered the Covenant school may have acted valiantly, let's not sit here and act like Uvalde didn't also happen. Having an armed officer present isn't a simple, gift wrapped solution. This is a very nuanced problem to which there are no simple as as solutions.

I would also ask what else was in that bill. No bill put forth by either side is ever cut and dry. There's always several, often unrelated items hidden in said bill

Stumptownstu is right.  Myth is that an armed school is a safer school.  Multiple studies show armed guards don't prevent mass shootings.  Washington post reports that of 225 shooting incidents from 1999 to 2022, there are only two cases where a guard stops a shooter.  In fact, some of the deadliest school shootings in US history have armed guards.  Also despite billions spend, hardening schools with security measures have proven ineffective in preventing shootings and often leave students feeling less safe.  Survey found 95% of teachers are uncomfortable with policies that allow them to carry a gun to school.  Efforts to bring more guns to schools have caused harms such as accidents.

Unfortunately, times have changed in our society. Schools should be treated no differently than entering a court house or some other building where metal detectors and searches are conducted. You want to keep kids safe, at least from elements like school shootings, then this has been instituted at every school. In addition, you would have to fence in those schools with some type of wall that could not be climbed or cut through, essentially like a fort knox.

It's sad, but we as people must acquiesce to the day, age and time of where we are in society. Guns are ready available everywhere. They are not hard to get. Make all the gun laws you want but it will not get rid of the fact that guns can be purchased on a lot of different facets, just like you can make a bomb with common household ingredients from under your kitchen sink. Point is, we have to go above and beyond now-a-days to protect people or things. This isn't 30 or 40 years ago. Keep up with the times or get caught. A huge overtaking to get schools protected but this is what tax dollars are for and aide from the Federal government would help as well. Money would be better spent here protecting kids then being sent elsewhere. If we are not going above and beyond protecting our own and would rather protect others then what are we doing in America.

Exactly. Uni has no problem with the KKK, neo nazis, Proud Boys, and racists armed and marching through the streets, but how dare any gays or trans arm themselves.

They are dead silent when these mass shooters leave behind racist manifestos, but the loudest if a shooter is a trans. confused

Do not think gender identity, race, or political affiliation is the issue with violent mass shooters. Problem remains access to guns. an_light

The problem is not guns. There are hundreds of millions of guns in the US. Are the guns running around firing themselves? NO. The problem is sick individuals who have no regards for other lives. These people who commit these horrific acts live sad and miserable lives. The problem is with PEOPLE, not guns.

Midnight1 is right.  All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing.  Absurd that gun rights matter more than human rights.  The reason why US doesn't have effective gun control is dysfunctional politics.  In adversarial government, harder to change laws and minority can block majority favoring stronger gun control.    Countries successful in reducing gun violence usually have fewer guns and stronger gun laws.

Disagree. The problem is guns, gun culture, mass production of guns, and lack of universal, common sense gun laws. You have become so desensitized to gun violence, mass shootings, and obsessed with guns that you would rather have guns than protect people and children who cannot arm themselves in school.

India and China have 5 times the population of the U.S. and do not suffer from any mass shootings or school shootings ever. Hmmm. I wonder why that it is???

It's not because they do not have mentally ill people, criminals, or poverty in those countries. It's because they don't have unrestricted access to guns. Not hard to figure out. an_light

    @DeezyAZ81

What would happen to someone in China that had an illegal gun?

Illegal possession or sale of firearms may result in a minimum punishment of 3 years in prison, and the penalty for a gun crime is death penalty.

What would happen to someone in India that had an illegal gun?  Want to look this up?

What would happen to someone in the US that had an illegal gun?

Those countries have a lot more problems then guns. GTFO trying to compare the US to India and China.

Nobody in the US fears prosecution. We should bring Chinas laws here. You know, lock downs for years, social credit scores etc. That would keep the garbage locked up so people can actually go back to enjoying being outside.

you are just so caught up in politic BS that you think guns are the real problem. You're crazy to think guns can just be wiped away and completely removed. Criminals do not care about your laws.  Guns are a tool. People use tools. Guns do not fire by themselves. People are sick in the head. Our society breeds morons. Half the sub is proof of that.

What do you do? Try to disregard the numbers and still claim that guns are not the problem, which is insane.

Who said anything about illegal guns? I am talking about legally purchased guns, you know like the 2 legally purchased rifles that were used in yesterday's mass shooting by someone with no criminal record, and like most legal firearms purchased in all of these mass shootings. These are legally purchased not illegal.

Why did you only focus on illegal possession of guns in India and China? Why don't you do some research and look up on laws in India and China for legally purchasing firearms in those countries and report back. You might learn why such large countries never have large mass shootings with legal firearms.

I didn't say anything else about China or India's entire legal framework, so focus on the topic at hand. You know you are dead wrong so you want to change topics.

Guns, gun manufacturing, and gun profits contribute to this mentally we have to be in love with guns in this society, which you suffer from and cannot even see it.

You seem so indifferent to the fact that we just have millions of guns in this country and do not even see this as a problem when no other country in the modern world has so many guns available, regardless of size or government structure.

You are so ideologically attached and political biased toward the "pro gun" political BS that you do not even acknowledge that production and access to guns is a huge part of the issue. I never said guns can completely be wiped away and removed. Highlight where I said that in any post.

However, we can stop production of certain kinds of guns, stop the sale of certain guns, engage in gun buyback programs which work in other countries, and create common sense laws and enforce them for possessing guns. We ban tools in society all of the time, why not guns? What is your obsession with needing every kind of rifle imaginable? Do you know the original intent of the 2nd amendment by the framers?

Claiming guns are not a part of the problem is simply asinine. Again, you have not provided a logical answer as to why there are no countries in the world with similar rates of gun violence and mass shootings compared to the U.S. (larger or smaller countries).

There are no criminals, mental illness, or psychological problems in other countries like India and China? What about Canada, UK, Sweden, Norway? Couldn't be less access to guns could it? If these countries were able to cure mental illness, you would have think the U.S. would have heard about it. an_light

Guns per 100 citizens (Guns per Capita)

    U.S. 120

    UK 4

    India 5

    China 6

    Spain 7

    Norway

    Brazil 8 (lots of crime)

    Mexico 13 (lots of crime)

    Canada 34 (most hunting licenses)

Keep that narrative alive that number of guns and access to guns is not a problem in the U.S. at all BigGame. None of these other countries have crime or mental illness apparently. Couldn't possibly be guns. an_light Could never be those beloved pieces of steel.

Reasoning for this link is unclear. Are all trans criminals? If not, what is the issue with them exercising 2nd amendment rights you covet? an_light

I have no problem with KKK?? Yes, I have a big problem with Joe Biden and any KKK clown.

Neo-nazi's? Racists? Look in the mirror.

And I have no problem with gays, trans, or whatever. Had plenty of gay friends and co-workers throughout the years. Even a cross dresser, guy wore womens girdles. Whatever.

What I do have a problem with is folks with penis' saying they're women and must be treated as such. And the same with vagina's saying they're men. And I sure as hell don't want children thrust in the center of all this. There is a list of child actors gone bad. Why? Cause they had no childhood. Stop trying to destroy childhoods you morons!

Label every restroom Penis or VagIna. Sports would be Penis Basketball or Vagina Basketball just to satisfy you clowns.

The left has encourged trans folks to take up arms. See what we get? Party of violence.

Dead silent on racist manifestos? No, I wasn't at all. Kid was sick, had nickname " school shooter".

How this shooter's manifesto? Will we ever get to read it? an_light

Uni has no problem with the KKK, neo nazis, Proud Boys, and racists armed and marching through the streets, but how dare any gays or trans arm themselves. See the 2nd amendment only applies to some American citizens to the far right. Today's "conservatism" is a mental disease.  They are dead silent when these mass shooters leave behind racist manifestos, but the loudest if a shooter is a trans.  Do not think gender identity, race, or political affiliation is the issue with violent mass shooters. Problem remains access to guns.

Calling me out by name are we, and liable to boot!

I thought you are pro-gun rights? Just not for the trans community?  Reasoning for this link is unclear. Are all trans criminals? If not, what is the issue with them exercising 2nd amendment rights you covet?

Just what "hate groups" are "targeting" gays and trans??? How many killed??

No, it's YOU calling for end of guns all the while encourging a group with fear they must arm themselves. To say they are being threatened is a joke.

Have absolutely no problem with anyone (sane) owning a gun, you do.

I have never called for the end of guns. Where do get this? sleep2

You may need to read my above posts. I never once stated that. I pushed for restrictions of some guns like assault rifles, and less guns being produced and sold overall.  Not a ban of all guns. Not sure where you came up with that creative idea.

I am pro gun rights, and a gun owner (no rifles though). I just think we have too many guns in society and our society is obsessed with weapons and guns, which seems to contribute to mass shootings.

It is possible to be a gun owner and want restrictions on certain kinds of guns and the amount of access you know. an_light That may be too hard for you to grasp. peace_5

Ummm was that video link you posted me speaking??? I have never pushed for trans groups to arm themselves or to fight against hate groups targeting. You are simply just making things up now.

I don't even understand the trans movement at all. However, I certainly do not think a specific group should have their 2nd amendment rights denied in every way because I do not understand the lifestyle or the obsession with gender identity. That is discrimination and a denial of constitutional rights. You claim to have gay friends and support this kind of thinking??? an_light Surreeee. Your posts come across as very tolerant of others.

Yes, the right, the party of insurrections, neonazis, KKK, and "J e w s will not replace" never incites violence or carrying up arms to advance far right racist values. Wow you are brainwashed sir. an_light

Seems like you want it both ways.  Love guns, and support gun rights, but only for those that are not transgender. If you are truly pro gun rights, you should have no problem with trans taking up arms. You seem confused.

As far as the trans movement and sports, I pretty much agree with your position, so I am not sure who "you clowns" is referring to.

In my opinion, those that are trans and want to participate in sports should have their own division separate from men and women in my opinion. However, I do not attempt to act like I have all of the answers because I don't unlike you.

News flash child actors, and children in schools were screwed up long before the trans and gay movement started. I do not support children in elementary school being introduced to trans at all but there is no quick fix solution to this debate.

However, there seems to be a lot of anger and bigotry in your posts. an_light

For all of you far right supporters and Republicans that claim the modern Democratic Party is the party of the KKK.

How many KKK members do you think voted for Joe Biden or any Democrats on the ticket in the latest elections??? Shows how clueless you really are. an_light

How many guns used at the "insurrection"? ONE, by a capitol officer killing a woman on her knees.

Now would not a "sane" person think or comprehend that an "insurrection" would mean armed overthrow attempt????? Hmmmm.

Would not those capitol police be fleeing for lives instead of ushering (insurrectionists) folks around if it was an insurrection???

    You lack credibility.

BUT, we do have something in common. I too own firearms and no "assault style" weapons. What do I need those for????

There needs to be dialogue I agree, but there won't be. Too bad and sad too. INSURRECTIONISTS!!! MAGA REPUBS ARE DANGEROUS SAYS OUR PRESIDENT.

Bullshit lies and labels, it's all we hear while Biden voters shoot up our country.
