“Secretary of war” not “defense” a name change that will cost you 100s of millions USD as a nation - when they need to replace every business card and paper stating its old name and will have no effect whatsoever - the least you can do is show Hegseth the respect he deserves and call him by his well deserved title
OMG! That's like Cracker Barrel changing it's logo!!!

Personal attacks aside as irrelevant is it contain or retain?
I meant “contain” ! And it is not 100 % correct - it is mostly in American movies etc they are depicted to do so - you are most likely referring to “Damnatio ad bestias” - and you are of course right it was on the emperors order - but it was actually mostly to satisfy the Roman population - just as gladiator fights were - and it wasn’t “people” that were used - it was slaves and prisoners (again like most gladiators also came from this segment) - back then those weren’t viewed as people

Tbh I had no clue what you originally meant with your Roman emperor discourse - I am basically not better at English than I can kind of understand what you mean if you stay on course of what we are discussing - good for me that I can speak 9 languages fluently I suppose
