if and that's if he comes out, he'll probably go number one on the heels of this years tourney.... he only has to compete with beasley and possible mayo.  he's better than mayo for one and beasley will be an average nba four man at best.  weak draft this year, he'll be going first if he comes out

Bobcats will draft him when he does go pro.........local kid will help sell tix........Mugsy and Spud were under 5'6" and they played in NBA.....why drive to hoop when u drain 3's like he does

There is absolutely no way you can say Curry is better than Mayo. Mayo is by far the better player, and will be much more successful at the next level. Curry is projected to go 25th overall in 2009's draft, which means if he enters the draft this year most likely he'd be much lower. The draft is actually pretty strong this year, and Beasley won't even play the 4 spot, he'll be a small forward.

he won't go that high if he comes out. I don't think he will and he shouldn't. Mayo is overrated but even with him this is has the potential to be a great draft, especially the top 15 picks or so. Beasley will likely go #1. He's a bit undersized for a 4 in the NBA but he really looks like another Carlos Boozer. I really think Derrick Rose will be an awesome pro and if I had the #1 pick and anyone other than Chris Paul or Deron Williams at PG then that's who I'm taking.

Unless Curry is there in the second round Charlotte won't take him. He's not 8th overall material.

This year's draft class is going to be really good.

Beasley, Rose, B. Lopez, Bayless, Gordon, Mayo, Love, Collison, Westbrook, B. Griffin, Gallinari (Italy), Batum (France), and you could keep going on.

I agree with this. Rose is who I would want 1st overall, especially considering the teams that are most likely to be drafting there are Miami, Seattle, Minnesota and New York (all need a PG). Beasley will get drafted first because his name will sell tickets, and because he will be a great player too. The two top players on my board would be Rose and Lopez.

He won't come out this year but next year I think he does. There is no doubt about it that he is a lottery pick. It's not like this kid just started playing great in this tourney but he has been great for 2 years. For gods sake even J.J. Reddick was a lottery pick and Curry plays much better defense, much quicker, and can create his own shot. Plus pure shooters are tough to find in today's game. He has already put a little weight on after his freshman year and I expect him to put 10-15 on within the next year. Even if he decided to come out this year he would be a top 15 pick........name 14 other players you'd take over him?

Yeah I think Rose is going to end up being just a stud. He has the total package and at 6'4 he is going to create a matchup hell for opposing PG's. I'd still take Beasly over Lopez though, I'd be careful if I was thinking of drafting Lopez, he's pretty slow and might be a liability at the defensive end in the pros. Also a 7 footer shooting 47% in college is going to translate pretty badly to the pros.

Deep, deep draft for guards though, and I think the top 15 picks or so will trounce the top 15 from last year, even though they are turning out to be very good.

And how exactly is Reddick doing in the pros right now? He hasn't even played in half of his teams games this year and averages 3 ppg. Curry will not be a lottery pick. You have to understand the difference between being a great college player, and being a great NBA player. He's a bit too small, and doesn't have the strength to waste a lottery pick on him. You want me to name 14 players I would take over him? I could probably name 40...

He is everything the NBA is not and the NBA needs.  He's the best pure shooter since reggie miller, he's a little undersized(but only 20 years old) but with the size of the whistles in the nba these days he'll be fine, he has the best pure court instincts since larry bird, he's a team player, a good kid, his dad played in the NBA, he's gracious in victory and you can tell his teammates like him. 
 
You guys are saying he's too skinny to be a top draft choice....lol, like i said he is everything the nba is not and he's definetely a lottery pick and in my mind #1 overall.

That's exactly why you're not a GM. He's a good kid, and I think he's an awesome player, but picking him in the lottery is just a joke to me. I'm sure if he played in a real conference he wouldn't have this kind of success come tourney time either, because teams would know a lot more about him and pick up the flaws in his game.
The last great pure shooter to come out of college was Reddick, and he has done nothing in the pros. He doesn't even get playing time most games. There's a difference between a great shooter in college and a great shooter in the NBA, and when Curry finally leaves for the pros you'll understand how drastic the difference is.

curry works alot off the ball, when he gets it he can pass it too, he can obviously shoot and he takes good shots,  hes quick as it gets and he has great instincts,,,, he grew up aound the nba

AI was small when he was a rookie in the league, if earl boykins can get burn curry can too.

id say one more year and he might go, nexts year draft cant be as deep as this one

one thing i don't agree with is the AI comparisons, the kids definetely not a point guard....

he will have to guard the point but he is skinny like AI was,,,he gonna have to bulk up obviously but he has talent.

IF he did go in the draft this year, I could see him going in the 2nd or 3rd, then spending 2 or 3 years in the D-league.... much better for him to stay at Davidson.

They only have 2 rounds in the NBA draft.

peeps, why you bashing his frame.....he will do another year @ Big D, gain about 15 -20 pounds of solid muscle and tear it up in the NBA.

i know Reddick is a shitty pro player but that was exactly my point. NBA scouts fall in love with players at times and they never pan out. Also guys who have great tournaments will sneak into the lottery, such as:
Fizer
Jeffries
Wilcox
O'Bryant
 
 
Plus as far as this year draft Westbrook would be crazy to come out because he's not a 1st rounder and I think Love and Collison come back. Out of the 40 players you named at least half will be back next year. You (CHASE) mention that Curry is too wek and not strong enough yet you have Austin Daye in your list. Yes Daye will be a stud but won't come out until his junior year. Devin Harris was a twig but he was taken at number 5 overall and right now he is exactly the same height and weight as Curry.

If Brandon Jennings isn't a top 3 pick in 2009 it's because he chooses to play another year in college. One of those teams will need a PG, and he is a freak talent at the position. You just don't see guys move with the ball as well and as creatively as he does very often. Also, Chase Budinger is a bust.

Westbrook is currently projected as the 9th overall pick for this years draft. Him Love and Collison are all projected to be lottery picks, so I think they should come out. They might stay if they don't win a championship though and want to give it another shot. I know many of the people I listed won't come out this year. Probably only half will, I was just naming people that are rated higher than Curry. Curry shouldn't come out this year, but he might because his stock might be the highest it will be thanks to the tourney run. Every year people do get overvalued because of a couple of games in the tourney (Tyrus Thomas recently).

I think he'll be a very good player if he can improve parts of his game and gain some muscle.

i know you are a college hoops guru and know your stuff but do you really think Westbrook is a lottery pick? I am a die hard Bruin fan and I like Westbrooks athleticism and effort but I think at best he is a late 1st round pick....next year. If any Bruin leaves it could be Collison. I could see him come back for an extra season to play for another possible FINAL FOUR team (hopefully i'm not getting ahead of myself). Not many players have accomplished that. Plus this years draft will be loaded with guards and Bayless and Augustine would probably go ahead of him as far as point guards go. Love is enjoying the college life and I think he definetley stays and might be at UCLA until his junior year.
