A draw is good enough for both teams to advance, so as Tom Oldfield explains, we may be in for a low-scoring match.

Even without their magic from prior tournaments, Croatia are still in the mix heading into Saturday’s Group L finale against Ghana — and neither team is out of the running for top spot.

Luka Modric and Co. are -131 favorites here after scraping past Panama on Tuesday, but my Croatia vs Ghana predictions wager on a draw, which would send both squads into the Round of 32.

Take a closer look at this Saturday, June 27, matchup with my free World Cup picks and betting angles.

Who will win Croatia vs Ghana: Draw (+218)

Ghana’s game plan has delivered the goods so far in Group L, with Carlos Queiroz’s men keeping two clean sheets and grinding their way to four points. There’s no reason to flip the script now, especially against a Croatia team that’s short on attacking spark.

The Black Stars have tied two of their last three outings, and I’m jumping on this price for a draw in Philadelphia. Defending deep and relying on Antoine Semenyo’s threat on the counterattack, Ghana only had 21% of the possession in the 0-0 draw with England earlier this week, but they allowed just three shots on target that day.

Meanwhile, Croatia have looked labored at this tournament and over-reliant on a 40-year-old Luka Modric. They escaped with a critical victory against Panama on Tuesday, despite rarely threatening, and manager Zlatko Dalic must decide whether to bring match-winner Ante Budimir into the starting lineup here.

A draw wouldn’t be ideal for the Croatians, who would be left to sweat in third place, but Ghana’s physical, organized style is designed to stifle more technical opponents.

Playable to +180.

 TOp pick

Croatia vs Ghana Over/Under pick: Under 2.5 (-154)

Look for the defenses to be on top at Lincoln Financial Field, with Ghana yet to concede at this World Cup and Croatia improving at that end of the field after a shaky effort against England in their Group L opener.

Ghana’s last four contests have all featured two goals or fewer, and that’s aligned with Queiroz’s style of play. His 4-1-4-1 formation swarms the midfield areas, and the back four is comfortable dropping to the edge of the box to prevent space in behind.

I expect this matchup to more closely resemble Croatia’s 1-0 win over Panama than their free-scoring clash with England, and neither team has a deadly striker to cash on the more promising attacks. For all the neat passing between Modric and Mateo Kovacic in midfield, chances in the opposition box have been in short supply.

That leads me to the Under on a line of 2.5, with the Croatians scoring just six total goals across their last five games

Playable to -165.

Croatia vs Ghana projected lineup

Croatia (4-2-3-1): Livakovic; Stanisic, Pongracic, Sutalo, Gvardiol; Kovacic, Modric; Baturina, Pasalic, Perisic; Budimir

Croatia vs Ghana weather

Rain is forecast for earlier in the day, but that should be replaced by cloudy conditions by kickoff at Lincoln Financial Field, with temperatures in the mid 70s.
