Schnell vs Bontorin betting preview

Matt "Danger" Schnell is the No. 8-ranked flyweight contender and is coming off a split-decision victory over Tyson Nam in January. The former TUF competitor began his career in the octagon with back-to-back knockout losses but has since gone 5-1.

The 31-year-old is a well-rounded fighter with quick hands and good technical boxing ability.

Bontorin, meanwhile, is No. 9 in the flyweight rankings and will try to bounce back from consecutive defeats, most recently a first-round knockout loss to Kai-Kara France in March. The Brazilian is 16-3 in his career, including 3-2 in the UFC.

Bontorin is a black belt in BJJ and is at his best on the mat where he can utilize his grappling ability.

Schnell vs Bontorin UFC prediction and betting pick

PREDICTION: Fight to end by submission +440 - Both of these fighters have plenty of holes in their striking, especially when it comes to their defense.

Bontorin is much more comfortable on the mat where he can grapple and seamlessly transition through submission attempts.

Schnell is the more high-volume striker but has shown a tendency to stay on his back when the fight hits the ground. He's active and dangerous off his back, however, and has eight submission wins in his career, including a pair of first-round submissions in the UFC against Louis Smolka and Jordan Espinosa.

With 11 of  Bontorin's 16 career wins coming by submission, being able to back either of these fighters to win by sub at +440 is simply too good to pass up.
