San Jose State vs Hawai'i Picks & Props
SJSU vs HAW Picks
NCAAF PicksThis is the same system that brought us mega-productive wideouts like Nick Nash and Danny Scudero, and now Clark is next up as the heir apparent. He paces San Jose State with 35 targets --- eight more than any other teammate --- and can smash against a bad Hawaii defense (124th in success rate).
San Jose State nearly always features a potent, aerial-led offense under offensive coordinator Craig Stutzmann. This year's version has Jabari Bates' legs to provide a rushing element that's been absent in recent years, so Hawaii's defense (124th in success rate) will be on its back heels.
Hawaii has the 20th-fastest tempo (24.2 seconds per snap), and San Jose State has the fourth-fastest (22.5). This will be a quick, back-and-forth contest with plenty of pass attempts, which favors the Over.
Hawaii is getting too much love for its home ATS record, but SJSU is the better team, so I'd play the Spartans at any underdog number. They hold a +0.6 yards-per-play differential (Hawaii -1.5), and Hawaii's success rate numbers (118th on offense and 124th on defense) are putrid.
San Jose State has caught my attention after playing USC extremely well in Week 0, and quarterback Luke Weaver could have another strong performance against Hawaii.
The Rainbow Warriors return home after a 27-10 loss to Wyoming, but their demanding travel schedule continues with a trip to Arizona to face Arizona State looming next week.
Hawaii’s defense has also shown plenty of weaknesses, allowing 8.0 yards per pass while ranking 104th in rushing yards allowed per game. With Weaver showing he can play against quality defenses, he should have opportunities to move the ball effectively once again.
