The Under leans on limited power and strong recent bullpen indicators. Cleveland’s bullpen has allowed just 0.82 HR/9 lately, while Detroit owns a brutal .097 ISO over the last week. The Tigers’ pen has also been sharp, giving this matchup a lower-scoring path if Montero avoids major damage.
Cleveland has a strong case behind Parker Messick, who owns a 2.80 FIP over his last five outings with elite control and limited barrel damage. Keider Montero has struggled lately, allowing hard contact and home runs, while the Guardians enter with a 112 wRC+ over their last 11 games.
Ben Rice is my favorite home-run look today. He’s up to 32 home runs and has been one of the better power bats in baseball, averaging 92 mph off the bat with a 15.6% barrel rate. Gilbert throws his four-seam fastball nearly 40% of the time, and Rice is hitting .290 with a .662 slugging percentage against fastballs this season.
I’m playing the Under because I don’t think Tuesday’s 10-5 game changes this matchup. Seattle and New York both rank below 80 wRC+ over the last two weeks. Fried owns the matchup, while Gilbert’s 3.42 ERA and 0.998 WHIP give me enough confidence to keep this Yankees offense relatively quiet.
I hate backing a pitcher after a monster game, and Payton Tolle is coming off a 14-K outing. However, even with his 90-pitch leash, 48% of his outs since June 26 have come via the strikeout. He has the third-highest K/9 over that stretch and the fourth-best K% behind some heavy hitters in Dylan Cease and Jacob Misiorowski. He has shown he can get to this Over even on abbreviated outings, and the Over is a perfect 6-0 on this total over his last six starts. The Jays aren't a heavy-K team, but their strikeout rate has climbed of late, and this lineup could have five hitters with a K% of 25% or better this month. The juice is moving on this Over despite the projections liking the Under. This could close at -135/-140, and I'd buy it down to -120/-125.
Andres Gimenez has had Payton Tolle's number so far in the pitcher's young career. The shortstop is 3-for-4 with a double and a homer against him, sporting a .458 xBA and 1.070 xSLG. He could be your unsung hero tonight.
Kyle Schwarber has started heating back up, making him an appealing target against Twins right-hander Taj Bradley. Over his last 10 games, Schwarber owns a .500 SLG, .235 ISO, 47.6% hard-hit rate and 14.3% barrel rate. He also carries the No. 1 matchup rating on Batters-Box while covering more than 90% of Bradley’s pitch mix. Bradley has struggled against left-handed hitters, allowing a 45.2% hard-hit rate and 13.7% barrel rate this season. With Schwarber trending upward and holding an elite matchup, this looks like a strong spot for the Phillies slugger to produce at the plate.
It’s a small slate, but HR bettors get Aaron Nola, who has allowed the most dingers in baseball this year, at a makeshift MLB stadium with short fences and nothing but corn in the outfield. Nola has allowed 10 homers over his last 33 innings across six games, just took a 105-mph laser beam off his knee in his last start, and today’s setting might not help him. The Iowa Cubs and St. Paul Saints played on this field Tuesday and ripped four combined dingers—the only extra-base hits of the game. In the other two Field of Dreams games, played on a different diamond but with a similar layout, there have been seven total homers. Royce Lewis is the hottest stick in the Minny lineup. He has three homers over the last two weeks and leads the team in slugging (.667), ISO (.278), wOBA (.461), and HardHit% (47.4%). His 76.3-mph swing speed over that stretch is also a Top-25 mark in all of baseball.
The Rangers are keeping the lid on Jacob deGrom, and getting to seven punchouts is going to be damn hard to do. The right-hander might have a 15-out cap on him right now, as he has not gotten over that number in five straight starts. He was at just 88 pitches last game after five innings and didn't come back out. To me, that sounds like a blueprint for an oft-injured pitcher the Rangers need healthy if they are going to make the playoffs. The throttle started in July, and since then, he has 29 Ks in 23 innings. However, he has gone Over this total just twice in five starts and has thrown 88, 91, 90, 97 and 80 pitches. He's going to have to be mighty efficient to get seven of his 15 outs via the K. At plus money on the Under, the risk is low to see if he has an innings cap. I'm betting this down to -115.
Jacob deGrom has had his issues with the Angels in the past, as L.A. hitters boast a collective .967 OPS against the veteran right-hander. With Walbert Urena sporting a 144 ERA+ in his rookie season, I’ll take a flier on the Halos to play spoiler at the Big A.
The Dodgers’ Teoscar Hernández has an elite Batters-Box rating in a favorable matchup against Brewers left-hander Shane Drohan. Drohan has struggled against right-handed hitters, posting a 7.43 ERA over his last 60 faced while allowing a 12.5% barrel rate and 70% elevation rate. Hernández has also handled southpaws well, batting .310 with a .552 SLG and .242 ISO over his last 30 plate appearances against lefties. Across 115 elite-rated games over the last three seasons, Hernández has recorded at least one hit nearly 67% of the time. The hit prop is worth paying -150, while his hits, runs and RBI prop offers plus-money value.
Andy Pages sits in the 95th percentile in xSLG, the 96th in xwOBA, and has a hard hit rate well over 50% against left-handed pitching. That’s a good recipe for power.
Shane Drohan isn’t overly reliant on his fastball (31.1%), and Pages hammers his secondary pitches like the curve, sinker, slider, and cutter.
Atlanta and Chicago send two of the best lineups in baseball to the dish, and they respectively rank eighth and third in wOBA against lefties for the campaign. The two clubs have also trended to the Over, and I'm particularly expecting White Sox southpaw Anthony Kay to struggle considering he's saddled with the fifth-highest xERA in baseball among the 100 pitchers with at least 60 innings this year.
I'm fading Chicago White Sox lefty Anthony Kay on Thursday. He's sporting the fifth-highest xERA among the 100 pitchers with at least 60 innings, after all. Plus, the Atlanta Braves enter ranked eighth in wOBA against southpaws for the season and sixth in overall xwOBA across the past 14 days.
The Yankees rank Top-3 in OPS, ISO, OBP, xWOBA, and hard hit rate when facing left-handed pitching. The Red Sox have hit righties very well over the past four weeks, sitting ninth in wOBA, ninth in ISO, and fourth in batting average. Play the Over to -120.
Ranger Suarez has started four games against teams ranking Top-10 in OPS vs. left-handed pitching, allowing 13 runs and posting a 6.13 ERA during those games. The New York Yankees lead the majors in OPS against lefties so they’re a prime candidate to cause Suarez problems. Playable to -145.
The Braves have dropped five of six while averaging just 2.8 runs per game and ranking 29th in wOBA without Ronald Acuna Jr. (hamstring), and it’s been a smoke-and-mirrors start for veteran lefty Martin Perez, and there’s serious statistical correction ahead of his .230 BABIP and 80.2% strand rate considering they’re both high-end marks about pitchers with at least 60 innings this season. San Francisco is just the offense to kick-start the regression, too. The Giants are pacing the majors in wOBA and fourth in xwOBA over the past 30 days, after all.

This is the most common and easiest wager for a bettor to make when it comes to MLB picks. Basically, to win an MLB moneyline pick, you just have to choose which team will win the game.
It's simple: if you bet the White Sox moneyline over the Red Sox and Chicago wins, you win your bet.
The run line is another name for a point spread that you may be more familiar with in NBA and NFL betting. A point spread varies in the NFL and NBA from as little as 0.5 points up to double-digit spreads. A baseball run line is almost always a 1.5-point spread.
The favorite will be -1.5 while the underdog will be +1.5. At the end of the game, if you take away 1.5 runs from the favorite or add 1.5 runs to the underdog and they end up winning the game, you win your MLB pick against the spread.
Another common wager is to bet on the total in baseball, which is a bet on the total runs scored in the baseball game. You are simply choosing whether the final score will be Over or Under that total. Betting the Over/Under on a matchup is a great way to get started in MLB score predictions.
A new and emerging MLB betting market is the NRFI/YRFI bet. These are quick-hitters in which you make a wager on the O/U total of the first inning, typically set at 0.5 runs. Thus, the bet is coined as No Run First Inning or Yes Run First Inning. No need to wait a couple of hours to cash a bet when it could be done in 20 minutes or less.
The above options, moneyline, run line, and Over/Under, can also be placed on the first five innings of a game rather than the full game. Many experienced bettors will use this approach because, typically, this will take bullpens out of the equation and make your job researching the game easier. After all, you can just focus on the starting pitchers.
If you want to combine multiple games into one mega wager, you may consider making a parlay bet. A parlay is when you pick two or more MLB games on one single betting ticket, which will increase the payout of your bet.
But it also comes with more risk, as each of those MLB picks must hit for your ticket to pay out. Our parlay calculator is a great tool to find out what your potential payout would be.

Player props are a great way to hone in on an individual matchup for a game. These types of wagers will be individualized for a player: Will Shohei Ohtani hit a home run? Will Gerrit Cole get seven strikeouts? Will Paul Skenes allow two earned runs?
You simply choose whether this outcome will happen or not. Keeping up to date on daily pitching matchups and batters on a hot streak can give you a huge boost when placing player prop bets.
Lastly, prior to the season and even throughout the season, you can place futures bets on all the long-term awards and outcomes. You can lock in an MLB pick on who will win their division, which squad will win the World Series, or even who will win the Rookie of the Year, MVP, or Cy Young.
