Jason Wilson
Betting Analyst
18+ Years ExperienceJason Wilson is an experienced journalist who has worked in a variety of roles within the industry for the past 18 years. Working at community newspapers in New Brunswick, Jason wore many hats as a reporter, editor, and photographer, covering everything from sports to courts to municipal politics. He has honed his editorial acumen over his years in the industry, showcasing flexibility, patience, and a strong work ethic. While he was relatively new to sports betting upon joining Covers, Jason has taken the plunge with gusto to learn the ins and outs of the industry, both as a method to improve professionally and to add an extra angle to his sports fandom.
In addition to sports, Jason is an avid film nut and former movie critic who monitors the Academy Awards betting odds for Covers. Jason holds a Bachelor of Arts in journalism degree and a Bachelor of Education degree from St. Thomas University.

Q&A with Jason
What are your favorite sports movies?
Bull Durham is the best sports movie of all time. It's funny, sexy, and feels like the closest approximation to what life in the minors must have been like in the 1980s (Tim Robbins' exaggerated wind-up notwithstanding). Generally, baseball is the most cinematic of sports. And it's why movies like Moneyball, The Bad News Bears, Eight Men Out, Everybody Wants Some!!, Field of Dreams, and Eephus resonate. They all capture the magic of the game from a different angle and are more successful on the whole than any other sport captured on film.
As far as non-baseball movies, Slap Shot, Any Given Sunday, The Hustler/The Color of Money, White Men Can't Jump, The Damned United, Happy Gilmore, and Ford v Ferrari are among my favorites.
How did you become a sports fan?
My dad is a massive Montreal Canadiens fan, and, as such, so am I. I've generally drifted away from being too concerned about specific teams and their results (I ostensibly cheer the Cardinals and Blue Jays in baseball, but am not as rabid about it as I once was), but I will never be able to quit the Habs. I never played hockey, but watching Habs games as a kid lit a spark. I remember my dad waking me up during one of the games during the 1993 Stanley Cup Final when the games were being played on the West Coast vs. the Kings. I was almost nine, and it felt so special. Little did I realize that it would be their last Cup victory (to date), but the memory is priceless.
How did you get into writing/journalism?
I was at a crossroads in the early 2000s. I had dropped out of university once already and had just finished a brief certificate program in film studies at the University of New Brunswick. Like many young men, I started reading Hunter S. Thompson, and his approach felt extremely exciting even years after his most active period. Even now, The Kentucky Derby is Decadent and Depraved is a singular piece of American journalism. While I never went Gonzo, I did study journalism and become a reporter (sports and otherwise) before winding up at theScore in 2015 and, subsequently, Covers in 2021.
The best feature Covers has introduced since I've started working here is the props projections page for various sports, but especially MLB, NFL, and NBA. It's extremely useful data that can help solidify which picks are worth a look on a given day. It helps ensure you're not just running blindly on vibes alone.
Jason's areas of expertise
Jason specializes in Major League Baseball with an eye on player props and futures. He also keeps a close eye on the Academy Awards every year.
MLB betting
Before writing about sports betting, Jason sowed his oats by playing fantasy baseball for 2+ decades. This has parlayed into an interest in player props and futures, in particular.
Academy Awards betting
While giving awards for arts is, and always has been silly, Jason has maintained a keen interest in the Academy Awards, following the Oscars from the nominations announcement all the way to the big night.
Jason's memories
🚀 Big win
Winning a football pool during university that covered my rent just when I was otherwise flat broke.
😭 Bad beat?
I reached the final table at a poker tournament at Binion's in Las Vegas. I wasn't short-stacked, but I wasn't doing all that great. Guy goes all in with something like Jack-Five off suit and goes up against Ace-10. I watch as he hits the river and stays alive. I go out within the next few hands and finish in eighth place out of 500 people. They paid the Top 7.

Eric Rosales
Betting Analyst
Eric has been involved in sports media in many different capacities since graduating from journalism school in 1999, back when getting your own column in a newspaper was still considered a thing. He doubled down and graduated from broadcast journalism school five years later, which led to a move to Toronto and a career with The Sports Network (TSN). From behind-the-scenes production work, he moved into the digital realm, where he had his own hoops column (At the Buzzer), while regularly live streaming and chatting with fans during broadcasts as the character known as LeBlog James. He was also a key contributor to TSN and CTVs Olympic programming during the 2012 London Games. Eric eventually found his way into the sports betting field in 2016 and has been a mainstay ever since. He was tagged on Twitter as a Top 10 NBA sharp during the 2021 season and has been interviewed about basketball and his handicapping process on shows from Vancouver to India. Eric is now a jack-of-all-sports at Covers, where his predictions span the alphabet soup: NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, F1, WNBA, Euro, and Copa. When making picks, he focuses on finding value first and foremost, and ensuring readers have all the information they need to make an informed choice.
