Newcastle were knocked out of the Carabao Cup on Thursday as they wasted numerous chances against Everton. Our picks explain why they'll turn those chances into goals as they return home to St. James' Park.

Newcastle seeks revenge after Everton ousted them from the Carabao Cup on Thursday, as the Magpies welcome the Toffees to St. James' Park on Monday.

My Newcastle vs. Everton predictions explain why Thursday's loss showed that the favored Magpies (41%) are in a great spot to rebound with a multi-goal effort.

Here are my free picks ahead of their 3 p.m. ET clash on USA Network on Monday, Nov. 2.

Newcastle vs Everton predictions

My Newcastle vs Everton top pick: Newcastle Over 1.5 goals (46% probability)

Newcastle were utterly wasteful in front of goal in Thursday's 3-1 Carabao Cup defeat at Everton. They scored just once, despite having 38 touches inside the penalty area, and putting nine efforts on target.

The Magpies wasted three of four big chances, but I expect them to capitalize on those opportunities on Monday and would play this to 52%.

Newcastle entered the weekend ranked fourth in the Premier League in goals vs. expected, and sixth in goals per match despite putting the fourth-fewest shots on target.

They also rank fifth in conversion rate, which is key vs. an Everton defense that has conceded multiple goals in three straight league fixtures.

My Newcastle vs Everton Over/Under pick: Over 2.5 (57% probability)

I won't be surprised to see both sides bag multiple goals, which is why this is playable to 60%.

Newcastle's back line has been ripped apart multiple times this season, with Leeds, Coventry, and now Everton bagging three or more goals against the Magpies.

They're conceding the fourth-most shots on target and fourth-highest xG in the Premier League, and only Brentford has lost ground duels at a higher rate.

Both clubs are also conceding more than 27 penalty-box touches per match,

Everton's struggled to find goals on the road, but this matchup should be kind to them.

Newcastle vs Everton combo

Over 2.5

Both Teams to Score - Yes

10+ Total Corners

We can't combo the top pick directly, but given this has the feel of a 2-1 Newcastle win or 2-2 draw, we can pair the Over with both teams finding the back of the net.

I'm also backing a match with double-digit corners. Everton are conceding 8.5 corners per away fixture, the most of any club in the Premier League.

They're also managing 5.5 corners per road tilt as they hit at clubs on the break. Conceding corners in that very scenario has been problematic for Newcastle, who are allowing 5.25 corners per home fixture as they play on the front foot.
