Aston Villa vs Fulham predictions

My Aston Villa vs Fulham top pick: Aston Villa to win (50% probability)

Aston Villa were knocked out of the Carabao Cup following a 3-0 defeat at Bournemouth on Wednesday, but that result should not overshadow their excellent recent form.

Villa had won six of their previous seven matches across all competitions, including a 2-1 victory over Manchester City last weekend that made them the first Premier League side to beat City this season.

The biggest concern is Villa's Champions League trip to Barcelona next Tuesday. That match will already be on the players' minds, but Unai Emery is adept at keeping his squad focused on the task at hand.

Against a more limited Fulham side, Villa's price is too appealing to overlook. Playable to 55%.

My Aston Villa vs Fulham Over/Under pick: Under 2.5 goals (44% probability)

Eight of these teams' combined 16 Premier League matches have finished with fewer than three goals, lending some support to the Under.

The Under has cashed in three of Fulham's four away matches, which have averaged just 1.3 total goals. Fulham tend to adopt a cautious approach away to stronger opponents, as they did in last month's 0-0 draw at Liverpool.

Villa often aim for convincing home wins, but this could be different. If they take the lead, they may prioritize conserving energy ahead of next week's trip to Barcelona.

Playable to 52%.
