New York Rangers (56%) winger Gabe Perreault has seen a massive uptick in shot volume since Alexis Lafreniere joined him on the top line.
I'm taking the Over on Perreault's shot prop with my top Kings vs. Rangers prediction. Let's break down my full slate of NHL picks for Monday, Oct. 26.
Kings vs Rangers prediction: Under 5.5
This game has the potential to be a snoozer, making the Under appealing at 53%.
The Los Angeles Kings have struggled miserably to generate offense. They sit tied for 27th in xG generation at 2.70 per 60 minutes, and their actual scoring output of 2.30 per 60 slots them 29th.
Adam Fox and Vladislav Gavrikov (2.2 xGA/60) can help take L.A.’s big guns out of the game, and there just isn’t much to worry about outside of the top line.
The New York Rangers rank 27th in shot-attempt efficiency and are unlikely to truly test L.A.’s goaltending, which hasn't been a strength this season.

Kings vs Rangers combo
I’m combining the Under with Artemi Panarin to record three shots and Gabe Perreault to record two.
Goals will be tough to come by, so this game should stay tight, and both teams will lean heavily on their top lines.
Panarin has registered at least three shots in seven of his last eight games. He leads the Kings in shots and goals and may have a little extra pep in his step against his former team.
Perreault has cleared 1.5 shots in six of his past eight games and is getting steady even-strength usage alongside Mika Zibanejad and Alexis Lafreniere.
Kings vs Rangers combo
- Under 5.5
- Artemi Panarin Over 2.5 shots
- Gabe Perreault Over 1.5 shots
TOP PICK
Kings vs Rangers player prop: Gabe Perreault Over 1.5 shots
Perreault for two or more shots is my top pick for this game, and I’d back him to 56%.
The Rangers made a fun little adjustment to the top line a while ago, dropping Pavel Dorofeyev and moving Lafreniere to RW1. That has greatly benefited Perreault’s volume.
He generated 4.05 shots on goal per 60 minutes of 5-on-5 play with Dorofeyev holding the top slot on the right wing.
With Lafreniere? His output has soared to 10.06 SOG per 60, much closer to players with 2.5 shot totals.
Kings vs Rangers goal scorer: Pavel Dorofeyev
Play to 38%.
Dorofeyev scored 92 goals on 72 expected over the first few years of his career. In simpler terms, he found the net more often than ‘deserved’ because he has a lethal shot and converts at a higher rate than normal.
He has scored only three times this season but, more importantly, he has generated 6.0 expected goals.
Dorofeyev has proven to be a high-end finisher over nearly 250 games. This dry spell is but a blip on the radar.
Los Angeles sits 22nd in team save percentage and has subpar goaltending, which could help Dorofeyev get back on track.
