Gabriel Vilardi has been delivering for the Winnipeg Jets this season and his recent success can continue to roll as they face an injury-riddled New York Islanders team that may not have the manpower to keep up.

The Winnipeg Jets host the New York Islanders on Friday evening at the Canada Life Centre, and the NHL odds list Winnipeg as a -193 favorite.

Winnipeg forward Gabriel Vilardi has scored three goals over the past seven games, and I expect his success to continue on Friday night, as detailed in my Jets vs. Islanders predictions.

Read on for my NHL picks for February 7.

Gabriel Vilardi Over 0.5 goals (+234 at Pinnacle)

My Jets analysis
It has been a solid year for the Winnipeg JetsGabriel Vilardi. He has 22 goals through 55 games, with half of them coming on the power play.

Vilardi leads the team in power play goals, which could be a key factor against the New York Islanders. Entering this matchup, New York possesses the second-lowest penalty kill percentage in the NHL.

The Islanders are missing practically their entire defensive corps due to injuries, including Noah Dobson, Scott Mayfield, Ryan Pulock, and Mike Reilly. New York has struggled defensively in their absence, especially on the penalty kill, which puts Vilardi in a highly favorable position on Friday.

Additionally, Vilardi has scored in two of his three career games against the Islanders.

The main concern here is goaltender Ilya Sorokin, who has bailed out the Islanders’ defense on a nightly basis. However, Sorokin allowed three goals the last time these two teams met, with Vilardi scoring one of them.

Jets vs Islanders odds analysis

Winnipeg opened as a -185 favorite and has since moved to -193. This line movement is likely due to the aforementioned injuries to New York’s blue line.

The total opened at 5.5 and hasn’t moved. The juice is on the Under, but the line won’t drop to five. If you expect a goaltending battle, you may still have time to secure a better number.
