Jake DeBrusk is coming off his most productive performance of the season on Friday night.

My Bruins vs. Canucks predictions see DeBrusk building on that effort and taking advantage of his former team, which has struggled on the defensive side this season.

Let’s break down my NHL picks for Saturday, January 3.

Bruins vs Canucks prediction

Bruins vs Canucks best bet: Jake DeBrusk Over 0.5 points (-105)

The Vancouver Canucks are playing without a lot of key weaponry, missing three Top-9 forwards in Conor Garland, Marco Rossi, and Filip Chytil.

That is leading to more opportunities for Jake DeBrusk. Early indications are he’s ready to take advantage of them.

Skating on the top line and No. 1 power play unit on Friday night, DeBrusk put forth one of his best performances of the season.

He scored a goal, picked up a pair of assists, and led the team in scoring chances while logging more than 18 minutes of ice.

DeBrusk has a great chance to build on that performance against the Boston Bruins, who rank near the basement in both goals against and shots against.

DeBrusk has produced at a healthy clip in similar matchups, especially at home. DeBrusk leads the Canucks with eight points in eight games in home games against teams ranking in the Bottom 10 in goals against, shots against, or both.

He should also have some extra pep in his step against his former team. DeBrusk has points in two of three games against Boston since signing in Vancouver.

Bruins vs Canucks same-game parlay

DeBrusk has played two games on a line with Elias Pettersson and Linus Karlsson. He has feasted in both, combining for 10 shots on goal and a whopping 17 shot attempts. The Bruins don’t suppress shots well, and DeBrusk registered three shots on target against them back in December.

Elias Pettersson has nearly 100 more assists than goals in his career. Centering a strong chance generator in DeBrusk at 5-on-5, and playing with shoot-first players like DeBrusk, Brock Boeser, and Kiefer Sherwood on the man advantage, Pettersson will likely be relied on heavily to facilitate for others.

Bruins vs Canucks SGP

  • Jake DeBrusk Over 0.5 points
  • Jake DeBrusk Over 2.5 shots
  • Elias Pettersson Over 0.5 assists
