The calls for Jaxson Dart are getting louder for the 0-3 New York Giants, but it may not matter who’s under center for the G-Men in Week 4 as the red-hot Los Angeles Chargers roll into town.
New York’s SNF dud highlighted this roster’s limitations, adding fuel to the quarterback debate in the process, and my early Chargers vs. Giants predictions expect L.A. to show no mercy at MetLife Stadium.

Chargers vs Giants predictions
Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.
Early Chargers vs Giants spread pick: Chargers -6.5
Soak it in. The Los Angeles Chargers are 3-0 for the first time since 2002, and there’s no sense that L.A. is going to take its foot off the gas this weekend against the struggling New York Giants.
New York is 1-9 SU in its last 10 games, and 3-7 ATS in that span, so I’m laying the points with a Chargers team that’s off to a terrific start on both sides of the ball — despite the line ticking up after opening at 5.5.
With Justin Herbert seemingly making the long-awaited leap, I expect L.A. to feast on quick throws and negate the Giants’ talented pass rush. Herbert is coming off a 300-yard effort against the Broncos in Week 3, picking up 29 first downs against a highly-rated division rival.
However, it’s this stingy Chargers defense that could really swing this matchup. Just as the Chiefs did on Sunday night, the visitors can double-team Malik Nabers and dare New York to win elsewhere. The G-Men failed that test in the SNF prime-time spotlight, and the speculation over whether it’ll be Russell Wilson or Dart running the offense won’t help.
The Chargers are 7-2-1 ATS in their past 10 outings, and that’s the trend I’m riding with this weekend, despite L.A. making the cross-country trip. Look for the New York boo-birds to make themselves heard again on Sunday.
Early Chargers vs Giants total pick: Under 43.5
The Giants may have feasted against the Cowboys in Week 2, but they crashed back to earth on Sunday — and the Under feels like the safer play this weekend against a Chargers defense that’s only given up 50 points across its first three contests.
Jesse Minter’s smothering defensive game plan spells trouble for an overmatched New York offense, and Derwin James & Co. limited the Broncos to nine first downs on Sunday. The Bolts rank inside the Top 10 in fewest yards allowed per game so far this year.
Meanwhile, Wilson ran out of ideas on a miserable night against the Chiefs, completing 18 of his 32 passes for just 160 yards with two interceptions, but would the Giants really throw Jaxson Dart into the fire as the starter against one of the NFL’s hottest teams?
The Under is 4-2 in New York’s last six outings, and it’s also been a winning ticket in L.A.’s past two games. I see this Giants front seven doing enough to hold the Chargers to a B+ offensive effort, and the visitors are thin in the backfield after losing Najee Harris to a torn Achilles over the weekend.
The hosts may have their own roster adjustments to make and could be in the market for a new kicker after Graham Gano’s groin injury in the warmup on Sunday.
With elite defensive talent on both rosters, don’t be surprised if key turnovers are the biggest storyline.
