Chargers vs 49ers Best bet: Chargers -2 (-110)
The Los Angeles Chargers have been rolling through the preseason. They kicked off 2025 with a massive 34-7 win over the Detroit Lions in the Hall of Fame Game.
Los Angeles followed that up with a 27-13 win over the Saints and lost in heartbreaking fashion to the Los Angeles Rams on a last-second TD last week.
Trey Lance has led the charge for his team, going 27-of-49 for 296 yards and two TDs through the air while adding 14 carries for 81 yards and a TD on the ground. Lance will get the start in Saturday’s preseason finale.
The San Francisco 49ers will be without Mac Jones, who’s out with a knee sprain, and Corey Kiner, who landed on IR with a high-ankle sprain. Both lead the Niners in passing and rushing, respectively, and they’re the latest additions to a growing San Francisco injury report.
For as good as Lance has been for L.A., the Chargers haven’t had to lean on him to carry the load. Kicker Cameron Dicker is 7-of-8 on field goals and 6-of-6 on extra points, and he leads all players in total preseason points with 27.
Los Angeles’ special teams also got a punt return TD, and the team’s defense has done a great job of limiting opposing offenses. The Chargers’ performance in all three phases of the game has been superior to the 49ers in the preseason, and I’ll take them to cover this small spread.
