The Cincinnati Bengals are expected to run their starters out for several series on Thursday night in Philadelphia, with the Philadelphia Eagles quiet on their plans. But it’s probably safe to assume that Jalen Hurts & Co. won’t nearly get the playing time that Joe Burrow and the Bengals’ starters will in the preseason opener.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor has made it known that the team’s starting units on both sides of the ball will have a high snap count in this one, including “extended action” for reigning Comeback Player of the Year Joe Burrow.
On the other side, the Eagles should be using the preseason to figure out some roster battles on the defensive side of the ball. All three positions of linebacker, cornerback, and safety have questions that need to be answered.
The Bengals are -6 favorites and -260 on the moneyline on Thursday night. While I do believe the Bengals are good enough to cover the -6, I prefer to take the Bengals on the double result of Bengals/Bengals.
If Burrow and the starters are seeing extended time while the Eagles focus on their backups, Cincinnati should have no problem building a lead in the first half. Even if the Bengals turn to their backups in the second half, they should be able to hold the lead for the victory.
