Will College GameDay be at Georgia vs. Alabama?
No. 2 Georgia and No. 7 Alabama are both 4-0 after comfortable wins last weekend: the Bulldogs cruised to a 41-13 win over Oklahoma, while the Crimson Tide scored an even more comfortable 49-18 victory over South Carolina. Should they handle their business again this weekend, they'll offer a top-10 matchup between unbeaten SEC contenders. A 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff on ABC serves as the cherry on top for ESPN executives.
Georgia thrashed Alabama in last year's SEC championship with a 28-7 win after the Crimson Tide took the regular-season game by three points in Athens. Their last meeting in Tuscaloosa was another close one, a 41-34 win for the hosts that also lured GameDay to campus back in 2024.
Both teams have one game left before meeting again: Georgia hosts Vanderbilt this Saturday, while Alabama visits No. 16 Mississippi State. The Crimson Tide's trip to Starkville is the bigger test, and a loss there could give ESPN a reason to look elsewhere.
College GameDay history at Alabama
Alabama has won four of its last five home games with College GameDay on campus, most recently beating Vanderbilt last October. Here are the five most recent visits to Tuscaloosa:
| Date | Matchup | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Oct. 4, 2025 | Alabama 30, Vanderbilt 14 | |
| Sept. 28, 2024 | Alabama 41, Georgia 34 | |
| Nov. 4, 2023 | Alabama 42, LSU 28 | |
| Sept. 9, 2023 | Texas 34, Alabama 24 | |
| Nov. 28, 2020 | Alabama 42, Auburn 13 |
Where else could College GameDay be in Week 6?
USC at Penn State
While the impending top-10 SEC clash in Tuscaloosa is a tough one for ESPN to turn down, Penn State's annual White Out offers an appealing backup with USC making its first trip to Happy Valley since 1994. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
USC fell to No. 18 after a 41-27 loss to Oregon, while Penn State dropped out of the AP Top 25 after losing to Wisconsin last week. Those two losses make Happy Valley a tougher choice if Georgia and Alabama stay unbeaten, but we've seen ESPN go off the board early this season, so don't be stunned if it happens again. The 3-1 Nittany Lions visit Northwestern on Friday, while the 4-1 Trojans host Washington on Saturday.
LSU at Kentucky
No. 11 LSU at No. 24 Kentucky gives ESPN another potential ranked SEC matchup if either Georgia or Alabama slips up this weekend. The Tigers rebounded from their loss at Ole Miss by beating Texas A&M in a 35-6 statement win, while Kentucky beat South Alabama by 24 points to earn a spot in the Top 25. LSU hosts McNeese this Saturday, and Kentucky visits South Carolina before welcoming the Tigers on Oct. 10.
South Carolina at Florida
No. 8 Florida has cruised to a 4-0 start after beating Ole Miss 52-28 last week. The Gators hit the road to face No. 25 Missouri on Saturday before hosting South Carolina on Oct. 10. The visitors are the concern here: the Gamecocks are 2-2 after losing at Alabama and need a better showing against Kentucky this week to make a trip to Gainesville more appealing.
What could change the Week 6 College GameDay race?
- Georgia and Alabama: Wins over Vanderbilt and Mississippi State, respectively, would keep both teams unbeaten entering Week 6. It's hard to imagine GameDay heading anywhere else if that happens, but a loss by either team would complicate the seeming inevitability of another ESPN trip to Tuscaloosa.
- USC and Penn State: The Nittany Lions visit Northwestern on Friday before the Trojans host Washington on Saturday. Wins by both teams could keep the dream alive of GameDay ahead of Penn State's annual White Out matchup.
- Kentucky and Florida: The Wildcats need a win at South Carolina to strengthen their case before hosting LSU, which faces McNeese this week. A Florida win at Missouri would send the Gators home at 5-0, keeping Gainesville alive in this race.
Has College GameDay announced its Week 6 location?
No. ESPN has not officially announced its Week 6 location for Saturday, Oct. 10. Tuscaloosa leads the market, but it has not been confirmed as the destination. We'll update this page once ESPN announces its choice.
