ESPN has not announced its Week 7 destination for College GameDay, but Notre Dame-BYU has a strong case for Provo with Ohio State-Indiana the biggest threat.

ESPN College GameDay has not announced its campus location for Week 7, but Notre Dame at BYU is the early favorite to host the weekly studio show on Saturday, Oct. 17, ahead of what could be a top-10 showdown in Provo, Utah.

Kalshi, one of the best prediction market apps, lists that matchup with a 79% chance to host GameDay next week, trading well ahead of Ohio State at Indiana and Florida at Texas in a loaded week of big-time matchups. A potential showdown between unbeaten top-10 teams gives BYU a compelling case for its first GameDay visit in 17 years.

Below, we break down the latest probabilities, the strongest alternatives, and what could change before ESPN makes its choice. You can also follow our 2026 College GameDay schedule for every confirmed stop and future location projection.

Will College GameDay be at Notre Dame vs. BYU?

No. 3 Notre Dame and No. 8 BYU are one win apiece from bringing unbeaten records into Provo for a matchup that ESPN would be hard-pressed to turn down. The Irish improved to 5-0 with a 37-26 win at North Carolina, while the Cougars survived a 17-10 trip to TCU to reach 4-0. Their Oct. 17 matchup is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC, which gives this game a leg up over the other top options given the network affiliation for a prime-time spot.

There's already been a pretty strong hint from the show's host. On the Sept. 28 College GameDay podcast, Rece Davis said there is “a really good chance we'll be at BYU”, while stressing that no decision had been made. Two unbeaten teams and a campus the show hasn't visited since 2009 would give GameDay plenty of reasons to head west.

First, both teams have to take care of business. BYU hosts Iowa State this Friday as a roughly 10-point favorite, while Notre Dame welcomes longtime rival Stanford to campus on Saturday. A loss by either would take some shine off this matchup and give Ohio State-Indiana a much stronger argument, but two wins by favorites would make it seemingly irresistible for ESPN executives.

College GameDay history at BYU

College GameDay has visited Provo just once for football, when BYU hosted TCU in 2009. The Cougars lost 38-7 in that one, so a return would offer a chance to leave fans with a better memory. Here's a look at BYU's only completed campus visit:

Where else could College GameDay be in Week 7?

Ohio State at Indiana

On paper, Bloomington offers the strongest football alternative. No. 5 Ohio State is 4-1 after winning 31-14 at Iowa, and No. 7 Indiana is 5-0 after a 47-15 rout of Rutgers. That's another potential top-10 matchup with major Big Ten and playoff implications. The Hoosiers still have to survive a trip to Nebraska on Saturday, while the Buckeyes should take care of Maryland at home. GameDay has already featured Ohio State twice this season, but a game this good would be tough to ignore.

Florida at Texas

Texas is No. 1, but Florida's 45-17 loss at Missouri cost this matchup some appeal. The Gators fell to No. 16 and need a response against South Carolina before heading to Austin, while the Longhorns face Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry. GameDay already visited Texas for its Week 2 win over Ohio State, making a return harder to sell against two potential top-10 matchups elsewhere.

Alabama at Tennessee

The Third Saturday in October always deserves a look, especially with Alabama ranked No. 6 and Tennessee sitting at No. 15. But GameDay was just in Knoxville for Texas-Tennessee and is headed to Tuscaloosa for Georgia-Alabama this weekend. The Crimson Tide need to get through that heavyweight matchup first, while the Volunteers visit lowly Arkansas this Saturday. I'd be pretty shocked to see GameDay head to Knoxville twice in one season, but the matchup is worthwhile in a vacuum.

What could change the Week 7 College GameDay race?

  • BYU's Friday night test: Iowa State gets the first chance to shake up the race. Kalani Sitake said Monday that running back LJ Martin and linebacker Isaiah Glasker are doubtful for that game, adding another obstacle before Notre Dame comes to town.
  • Indiana's trip to Nebraska: A win in Lincoln would keep the Hoosiers unbeaten entering their Ohio State showdown. A loss would make Provo's case that much easier, provided BYU and Notre Dame both win.
  • A busy SEC slate in Week 6: Alabama beating Georgia would give its Tennessee matchup more weight. Texas and Florida also have to win this weekend to keep Austin in the conversation.

Has College GameDay announced its Week 7 location?

No. As of Tuesday, Oct. 6, ESPN has not officially announced its College GameDay destination for Saturday, Oct. 17. Provo has a strong case, but the location, campus set, and guest picker remain unconfirmed. We'll update this page once ESPN announces its choice.
