Our college football expert is leaning towards Georgia covering the +1.5 spread against Alabama on Saturday.

ESPN College GameDay heads to Tuscaloosa for the biggest game of the SEC season so far: No. 2 Georgia (5-0, 3-0 SEC) at No. 6 Alabama (5-0, 3-0 SEC) at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday night.

Kalshi has it as close to a coin flip, but my Georgia vs. Alabama prediction and college football picks lean toward the Bulldogs in a rock fight on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

Early Georgia vs Alabama spread pick: Georgia +1.5

Kalshi probability: 49%

This is the best defense Keelon Russell has faced. Alabama's first-year starter has been excellent lately, with 13 touchdowns and no turnovers in his last three games. However, those games came against Florida State, South Carolina, and Mississippi State.

Georgia allows just 57.4 rushing yards per game, third-best in the country. If that holds, Alabama's offense will rest almost entirely on Russell's arm.

On the other side, Gunner Stockton is a fifth-year senior. He's 17-3 as a starter, 6-2 against ranked teams, and third nationally in passing efficiency at 202.0. He gets an Alabama pass defense that allows 234 yards per game, ranking 14th in the SEC.

Stockton also protects the ball: he has just eight interceptions in 571 career attempts. That matters against a Tide defense that leads the SEC with 13 takeaways.

Georgia usually starts fast, outscoring opponents 70-7 in the first quarter. That's a problem for Alabama, because Kalen DeBoer is 1-7 at Alabama when trailing at halftime.

Yes, Kirby Smart is 0-7 against Alabama in the regular season, and DeBoer is 16-1 at Bryant-Denny. But the last time these teams met, Georgia won the SEC title game 28-7.

I'll take the points with the more experienced quarterback.

Early Georgia vs Alabama total pick: Under 55.5

Kalshi probability: 50%

These teams average a combined 101 points per game, but that number is inflated. Georgia's 51.4 points per game includes Tennessee State and Western Kentucky. Alabama's 49.6 points per game came against East Carolina, Kentucky, Florida State, South Carolina, and Mississippi State.

Both defenses stop the run. Georgia allows 57.4 rushing yards per game and Alabama 78.6 (10th nationally), so long drives will be hard to sustain. Alabama is also allowing just 6.4 points per game after halftime, and opponents convert only 27.5% of their third downs against the Tide (15th nationally).

The last two meetings totaled 45 and 35 points. The biggest risk to the Under is a defensive score, since Alabama has already returned four interceptions for touchdowns.

Still, I expect a tighter, field-position game than the season averages suggest.
