The No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes head cross-country to Seattle for a matchup with the Washington Huskies in Week 5. It’s the Big Ten opener for both teams, setting the stage for an enticing battle between two undefeated teams.

See why my Ohio State vs. Washington predictions and college football picks for Saturday, September 27 are targeting true freshman running back Bo Jackson’s rushing yardage prop.

Ohio State vs Washington prediction

Ohio State vs Washington best bet: Bo Jackson Over 45.5 rushing yards (-114)

It’s a new-look offense in Columbus this season as the Ohio State Buckeyes break in a new quarterback and running back to pair with their elite wide receiving corps.

Although it’s been a three-headed monster in the backfield, true freshman running back Bo Jackson has been by far the most productive of the bunch, earning his fair share of touches entering Big Ten play.

Jackson is averaging a robust 12.1 yards per carry, turning 18 carries into 217 yards and a touchdown. After not receiving a touch in the opener against Texas, he’s gone over the century mark in consecutive games.

When the offense stalled out in a too-close-for-comfort game against Ohio last time out, it was Jackson who ignited the offense. His contributions won’t go overlooked, and the precocious back will be given a workload on the road against a challenging Washington Huskies squad.

Washington has been softer against the rush than the pass for several years now. The Huskies haven’t yet faced an offense to truly test them on the ground, but the underlying numbers (118th in PFF’s rush defense grade) indicate that things may not be totally fixed. I’ll bet on Jackson capitalizing.

Ohio State vs Washington same-game parlay

Traveling across the country is a difficult task for any team, even if you’re the reigning defending champs. Washington is a tough conference opponent, and Husky Stadium is a difficult place to play, so I’ll bank on Demond Williams & Co. keeping things relatively close against a quarterback making his first true road start.

Ohio State represents by far the toughest challenge Washington’s offense has seen, and both teams play at a slow tempo (Ohio State 131st, Washington 85th), so I don’t envision this one turning into a shootout.

Ohio State vs Washington 3-leg SGP

Our deep-ball SGP: Jonah wails on Buckeyes

Running back Jonah Coleman has been a force both on the ground (347 rushing yards, nine touchdowns) and in the air (150 receiving yards, one touchdown), and he should receive a heavy workload as the Huskies look to pull off the upset.
