Miami’s Marquise Lightfoot has seven sacks. Notre Dame has allowed two all season. The Irish can afford to trust CJ Carr on passing downs, even against a front that gives up just 69.8 rushing yards per game. Carr has thrown 18 touchdown passes against one interception. Miami has allowed 10 touchdown passes in its last three games alone. If Lightfoot can’t get home with a four-man rush, the Hurricanes have a tough choice between giving Carr time or sending a blitzer and leaving one fewer defender in coverage. That matchup gives the Irish the advantage outright.

Cooper Barkate gives Darian Mensah a familiar option on third down. Barkate had 1,106 receiving yards at Duke last season with Mensah as his quarterback. Now they face a Notre Dame secondary missing cornerback DJ McKinney and safety Brauntae Johnson. The Irish are also without linebacker Drayk Bowen against Mark Fletcher Jr. and Javian Mallory, who have each rushed for more than 450 yards. That gives Miami a way to sustain drives while it replaces Malachi Toney’s catches. Rob Paul also likes the underdog in his Miami vs. Notre Dame prediction. With temperatures around 40 degrees and light winds forecast at kickoff, Miami’s red-zone possessions matter more to our total pick than the weather. If the Irish score their projected 35, the Hurricanes need 20 points to send the game Over and 28 to cover.

Our AI model favors Notre Dame by six, while the Covers projections have the Irish winning 32.39-25.35, a margin of 7.04. A seven-point Irish win still cashes the Hurricanes ticket at +7.5. Rob Paul would take Miami down to +6.5 and the Over up to 55.5.

How our college football AI predictions work

Our college football AI predictions use a custom Bayesian score model built from historical game results, separate offensive and defensive team ratings, home-field effects, and college football scoring patterns. The matchup analysis separately considers current team statistics, injuries, and recent results.

Score projections are generated independently of market prices. We compare each fixed score with the selected full-game spread and total to derive our picks, and track results against the original selections and lines. Kalshi percentages are market purchase quotes, separate from the model’s forecasts; the two sides may not add to exactly 100%.

A narrow difference between a projected score and a market line is a lean, not a guarantee of an edge.

Odds and market lines are correct at the time of publishing and are subject to change.
