🤬 Ole Miss vs Florida: Florida moneyline
Who's hatin: Party crashers
Why I'm hatin: Say what you would like about Ole Miss' incredible win over Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers in Week 3, but that was their Super Bowl. At home, as a short underdog, against the coach who left the program in dramatic fashion, and you come out victorious.
Now that the celebration has died down, this same Ole Miss team has to gear up, head to The Swamp, and take on a Florida team that has looked very good through its first three games. Its toughest opponent came on the road against Auburn last week, where the Gators won 44-39.
The target on the Rebels' backs is bigger than ever, and the Gators will look to rain on their parade. I love the Gators to come out on top here.
Full transparency, I snagged Florida last Saturday at +1.5 before it ballooned. If I were looking to bet this now, I would wait for -2.5 or -3, or pay the juice and not have to worry about shenanigans.
😠Clemson vs Cal: Cal moneyline
Who's hatin: The Dabo Swinney hate train
Why I'm hatin: The Clemson Tigers needed a 13-point fourth quarter to secure a 28-20 win over the North Carolina Tar Heels last week.
For those who didn’t watch but know the line was Clemson -3, you’d probably say, “OH! They covered.” Yes, but Clemson scored a late touchdown while up one, which allowed them to secure the cover. Clemson could have easily run the clock out, but its running back found a massive hole and ran it in.
Now Dabo Swinney and his boys have to pack it up and head to Berkeley, California, for a good old-fashioned ACC matchup between the Clemson Tigers and Cal Golden Bears, your father’s favorite rivalry.
Not only are the Tigers coming off a short week, but they're also flying from the other side of the country. On top of that, they have No. 6 Miami on the horizon on Oct. 3.
We know Swinney’s seat is hotter than a billy goat in a pepper patch, but that is easily a game this team could be looking forward to.
Avoid -1, -1.5; take the moneyline.
🤬Vanderbilt vs Auburn: Auburn -9.5
Who's hatin: NC State Week 3 bettors
Why I'm hatin: If you had NC State +3 in Week 3, you know this is how to get even.
Vanderbilt did not win and cover last week. The Wolf Pack lost and failed to secure an outright win by not going down in their own end zone as time expired.
Take a guess at what game is written below this one... I digress.
Vanderbilt draws a very talented and cohesive Auburn team that is basically a bunch of coaches and players from USF.
As mentioned above, Auburn is coming off a 44-39 loss to the Gators last Saturday. If it wasn't for giving up seven sacks, the Tigers could have possibly made it a lot more interesting.
The sack issue should be cleaned up in Week 4. Plus, Vanderbilt only sacked CJ Bailey once last week. The letdown from last week's miracle win should be marvelous against a very solid Auburn team.
I snagged -8.5 the morning of this write-up, but -9.5 is my ceiling.
🤬App State vs NC State: NC State -13.5
Who's hatin: NC State Week 3 bettors (again)
Why I'm hatin: Put last week aside. We all know how poorly the NC State Wolfpack executed its final play of the game. However, the Pack enters Saturday having faced a far tougher schedule than App State, who enter this week coming off wins over Maine, East Carolina and Charlotte.
At least NC State has played Virginia and Vanderbilt. This matchup will be App State’s first Power Four opponent.
The last time the Wolfpack played a non-Power Four opponent, it beat Richmond 73-0 in Week 2 as 33.5-point favorites.
There is an argument NC State could be looking ahead to Louisville on Oct. 3, but at 1-2, the Pack can’t afford to look ahead after its fluke loss a week ago. Focus on the task at hand and get back on track. Clean up the slop!
I would not take this past -14.
