The college football slate is loaded this weekend, but the marquee matchup may well be unfolding between the hedges in Athens, where the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide are set to renew their storied rivalry.

Alabama edged out Georgia in a thrilling 41-34 victory last year in Tuscaloosa. This time, both teams feature plenty of new faces — except for one standout who’s back and ready to make an impact: Ryan Williams.

My Alabama vs. Georgia predictions break down why the Bama star wideout will dominate this matchup once again.

That and more college football picks for this SEC showdown, on Saturday, September 27.

Alabama vs Georgia prediction

Alabama vs Georgia best bet: Ryan Williams Over 62.5 Receiving Yards (-114)

Ryan Williams had his breakout performance in last year’s win over the Georgia Bulldogs.

The star Alabama Crimson Tide wideout put the college football world on notice, catching six balls for 177 yards, including the game-winning 75-yard touchdown with two minutes to play.

This time around, he has a new quarterback in Ty Simpson, but that should mean even more production with Simpson being a better pocket passer than last year’s starter, Jalen Milroe.

That said, it was a slow start to the season for Williams after gaining just 30 yards on five catches in the Crimson Tide’s stunning season-opening loss to Florida State.

But it sure appeared that Kalen DeBoer wanted to get his star wideout going in last week’s game against Wisconsin. Williams was targeted six times, catching five of them for 165 yards and two scores.

And I’m betting he keeps that going against Georgia this week.

Now, entering this season, I expected the Georgia defense to be arguably its best since the championship seasons a few years ago. But that’s not how they’ve played at this point.

We just watched Tennessee’s Joey Aguilar throw it all over the yard against the Bulldogs, torching them for 371 yards and four touchdowns with his top two receivers going for 177 yards and 97 yards, respectively.

As a result, Georgia enters this game ranked 79th in defensive success rate on dropbacks.

That will mean problems against a guy as talented as Williams. Which means I’m shocked to see his receiving yards prop sitting at 62.5. He can go Over this number on one catch.

Alabama vs Georgia same-game parlay

Alabama and Georgia generally play exciting back-and-forth games, and I don’t expect this year to be any different.

But I’m giving the Crimson Tide a slight edge here. It starts with Williams, whom the Bulldogs will have a hard time containing.

The other reason is that I’m still not a believer in Gunner Stockton. He got bailed out with some blown Tennessee coverages in last week’s comeback, and the offense hasn’t been efficient, ranking 98th in points per quality drive.

Alabama has the better playmakers, and they will be the difference in getting the Tide a win on Saturday.

The one place you have been able to attack Alabama is on the ground, where they rank 49th in EPA per rush. Georgia uses several backs, but Nate Frazier has become the No. 1 option.

Frazier carried the ball 14 times for 73 yards in the win over the Vols and has topped this number of 53.5 in each of his last two games.

Our deep-ball SGP: Wily Williams!

Williams is an electric player who can take a catch to the house at any time, and he seems to step up when the lights are brightest. He scored twice last week. If he does it again here, that's what we call a lotto ticket.

Alabama vs Georgia game predictions

Alabama vs Georgia moneyline prediction

Alabama’s playmakers like Ryan Williams will be the difference makers in this game. They will get the big plays when needed, while the Crimson Tide defense will pressure Gunner Stockton enough to force him into a couple of questionable decisions to seal the deal.

Alabama vs Georgia spread prediction

Since we’re backing Alabama as moneyline underdogs, it should come as no surprise we’re taking them on the spread as well. Georgia has been a tough bet the last season or so, going 3-11 ATS in its last 14 games, and has only covered the spread once in the previous five meetings with Alabama.

Alabama vs Georgia Over/Under prediction

I’m leaning towards the Under in this matchup. While neither defense has played up to expectations at this point, on paper, these are two of the best defensive units in the country and should be well-prepared for this matchup.

Alabama vs Georgia odds

  • Spread: Alabama +2.5 | Georgia -2.5
  • Moneyline: Alabama +126 | Georgia -152
  • Over/Under: Over 52.5 | Under 52.5

Alabama vs Georgia trend to know

Georgia has only covered the Spread in 3 of their last 14 games for -9.05 Units and a -59% ROI. Find more college football betting trends for Alabama vs Georgia.
