The Seton Hall Pirates wrap up their regular season by hosting the No. 18 ranked St. John's Red Storm tonight.

The Pirates could be without leading scorer Adam Clark which is why my St. John's vs. Seton Hall predictions are backing No. 2 scoring option AJ Staton-McCray. Here are my best free college basketball picks for this Big East clash on March 6.

St. John's vs Seton Hall prediction

St. John's vs Seton Hall best bet: AJ Staton-McCray Over 11.5 points (-120)

AJ Staton-McCray is second on the Seton Hall Pirates with 12.1 ppg and he could be in line for more shots tonight with leading scorer Adam Clark questionable due to a quad injury.

Staton-McCray has scored at least 12 points in five of his last six games, headlined by a 20-point performance against UConn. He also dropped 16 points on 7-13 shooting when the Pirates previously faced the St. John's Red Storm in January.

The Johnnies have a strong defense but they play at a blazing-fast pace which will lead to more possessions and scoring opportunities for the Pirates.

St. John's vs Seton Hall same-game parlay

Seton Hall center Najai Hines is questionable after rolling his ankle on Tuesday. That should lead to more minutes for big man Stephon Payne who averages 6.7 rpg and pulled down 15 boards in the previous meeting.

The Pirates rank 13th in the country in adjusted defense and have the ability to slow down the Johnnies up-tempo attack. That said, they sit outside the Top 300 in eFG% (48%) while St. John's ranks 15 in adjusted defense. That has me backing the Under 136 in this SGP.

St. John's vs Seton Hall SGP

  • AJ Staton-McCray Over 11.5 points
  • Stephon Payne Over 5.5 rebounds
  • Under 136

Our beyond the arc SGP: Pirates Pillage

The Pirates are on the bubble with the latest forecasts projecting they'll miss the NCAA Tournament. A high-profile win against a ranked team is exactly what their resume needs which should lead to a strong effort in their home finale.

That has me leaning towards them covering the spread, which they did previously this year when they lost 65-60 at Madison Square Garden.

St. John's vs Seton Hall SGP

  • Seton Hall +4.5
  • AJ Staton-McCray Over 11.5 points
  • Stephon Payne Over 5.5 rebounds
  • Under 136

St. John's vs Seton Hall odds

  • Spread: St. John's -4.5 | Seton Hall +4.5
  • Moneyline: St. John's -200 | Seton Hall +165
  • Over/Under: Over 136 | Under 136
