The ACC Tournament final is set (for now) after a wild week in Greensboro with the No. 2 Florida State Seminoles taking on the No. 4 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Due to sudden cancellations, both teams have played just one game this postseason.

Florida State edged North Carolina in the semifinals after its quarterfinal game with Duke was called off, and Georgia Tech knocked off Miami in the quarterfinals before its semifinal matchup with Virginia was canned.

These are our college basketball betting free picks and predictions for Georgia Tech vs. Florida State in the ACC Championship Game on March 13.

Against the spread (ATS) pick

With COVID-19 nixing FSU’s date with Duke on Thursday and canceling Georgia Tech’s meeting with Virginia Friday, these teams enter the ACC Tournament final with plenty of legs compared to normal postseason programs.

However, the Yellow Jackets do have the edge in rest, having squeaked out a close win over Miami in the quarterfinals Thursday, and that could be to their advantage if the Noles do show fatigue after a very intense and physical battle with UNC.

Florida State was able to overcome 18 turnovers and a mundane shooting night from beyond the arc (by its standards) versus the Tar Heels. The Seminoles, who average more than eight triples on 22 attempts from distance on the season, were just 5-for-13 from 3-point range and continued a trend that sees Leonard Hamilton’s team have its shooting cooled off away from home.

Georgia Tech causes plenty of chaos on the court, fueled by the frenzied play of ACC steals leader Jose Alvarado. The Yellow Jackets ranked 29th in defensive turnover percentage at KenPom.com (22.2 percent), forcing an average of 15.5 turnovers per game powered by nine steals a contest – eighth-most in the country.

The last time these teams battled, the Yellow Jackets forced FSU into 21 total turnovers, including nine steals, which translated into 22 points of turnovers. Georgia Tech cashed in 18 Miami turnovers for 16 points Thursday, and those extra possessions will help them cover this spread Saturday.

PREDICTION: Georgia Tech +4 (-110)

Over/Under Pick

As mentioned, Florida State just isn’t the same shooting team away from Tallahassee. In the regular season, the Noles hit an average of only 6.4 3-pointers on 30.6 percent success away from the Donald L. Tucker Center and finished with only five triples Friday night – leaving the 69-66 final score to fall well Under the 152.5-point total.

Some of the credit for the Under has to go to Florida State’s defense as well, which was tough inside and limited UNC to under 39 percent shooting while also posting seven blocks. The Seminoles will throw a lot of big capable bodies at ACC Player of the Year Moses Wright, who had a tough time with Miami’s frontcourt and finished with only seven points on 3-of-9 shooting in 25 minutes due to foul trouble.

The Yellow Jackets scoring also drops when away from home, with their output dipping from 79.4 points per home game to 69.7 points outside of McCamish Pavilion in the regular season – a near 10-point slide. Georgia Tech scored only 70 points on 46.8 percent shooting versus the Hurricanes in the quarterfinals.

Funnily enough, GT and FSU pushed with the closing total in both matchups this season, matching the 135-point number in the Seminoles 74-61 win in Atlanta on December 15 and landing right on the 141-point total on January 30. Before those games, these ACC rivals played Under in three straight and four of their last five matchups.

PREDICTION: Under 150.5 (-110)
