For the second straight season, we've got the two best teams in the conference in the ACC Championship when Duke meets Virginia.

What's carried both of these teams this season is the defense, and I expect UVA to ride it today.

Read why I like Virginia to cover in my Duke vs. Virginia predictions and college basketball picks on Saturday, March 14.

Duke vs Virginia prediction

Duke vs Virginia best bet: Virginia +8 (-116)

The Shot Quality from the first meeting tells the story: just a three-point Duke Blue Devils win despite a fully healthy and rested roster. Now the Blue Devils are playing their third game in three days and adjusting to life without a rim protector and their starting point guard.

Duke has leaned much more into dribble creation over the last two games, nearly doubling its normal volume of those sets against Clemson. That approach is unlikely to hold up against the Virginia Cavaliers, which allows just 0.80 points per possession on off-the-dribble actions.

Duke vs Virginia same-game parlay

All of the reasons listed above can also justify taking a small position in Virginia to win outright here. UVA should be able to hold this Duke offense in check.

When you can do that, you can really put game pressure on Duke, and I wonder how they'll respond in a third game in three days with a host of players seeing huge usage jumps.

I paired that with Dallin Hall to exceed his assists total. Duke has been vulnerable on bigs cutting to the basket all season, and he's the primary facilitator on these actions.

Duke vs Virginia SGP

  • Virginia moneyline
  • Dallin Hall Over 3.5 assists

Our beyond the arc SGP: Boozer for Threeeee!

Cam Boozer has taken nine threes over the last two games. That's the most he's taken (combined) in a two-game segment since January. I think that's directly related to no Caleb Foster, and I think the matchup will offer him more chances tonight.

Virginia has allowed just over a point per possession on pick-and-pops. Boozer is pretty much the only option that shoots threes off of those sets. This feels mispriced.

In addition, I paired this with the 1H under. The reason that the Boozer prop is so attractive is just how much I expect this game to be played in the halfcourt. Extended possessions should lead to a slow start, especially early.

Duke vs Virginia SGP

  • Dallin Hall Over 3.5 assists
  • Cam Boozer Over 1.5 threes
  • 1H under 66

Duke vs Virginia odds

  • Spread: Duke -7.5 (-110) | Virginia +7.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Duke -325 | Virginia +260
  • Over/Under: Over 140.5 (-110) | Under 140.5 (-110)
