The San Antonio Spurs are home underdogs coming off a loss to the Phoenix Suns on Monday night. However, the Spurs have been playing good basketball of late and can be expected to win outright against the Knicks. Take the Spurs with our NBA betting picks.

On Tuesday, the San Antonio Spurs look to shake off a tough loss to the Phoenix Suns when they host the New York Knicks. The Spurs had won four in a row before running into the Suns, so this is still a team that is playing some good basketball right now.

Will San Antonio get right back in the win column with a victory over New York? You’ll want to read our NBA betting picks and predictions for the answer to that.

Knicks vs Spurs picks and predictions

Our predictions are compiled from the analysis of the spread and total and are indications of where we are leaning for this game.
Our best bet is the play that we like the most for this game, which we would actually put some of our bankroll behind.

The Spurs nearly came away with an upset win over the Suns last night, as they came roaring back from a 16-point deficit and ultimately lost 108-104. Still, San Antonio had won four in a row before dropping that game, and the Spurs have covered in six of their last seven games. Meanwhile, the Knicks have lost three in a row and five of their last seven. Head coach Tom Thibodeau has been in the headlines lately, as he recently removed Kemba Walker from the rotation and questioned RJ Barrett’s work ethic — the 21-year-old is having a down shooting year for New York.

With the Knicks struggling to win games, it’s hard to understand why they’re laying points on the road in this one. Sure, the Spurs are coming off of a three-game road trip and are not as well-rested as their opponents, but San Antonio is a well-coached team that plays a better brand of basketball.

The Spurs might be only 22nd in the league in offensive rating this season, but they’re playing a Knicks team ranked 22nd in defensive rating. That means San Antonio should be able to play a decent game on the offensive end, especially with Dejounte Murray, Derrick White, and a deep group of Spurs guards getting to face a Knicks backcourt that struggles to defend anyone. And on the other end of the floor, Jakob Poeltl is one of the best interior defenders in basketball. He's a big part of the reason that San Antonio is 10th in the league in defensive rating, and he should make life difficult for Knicks forward Julius Randle.

Overall, this isn’t a great matchup for a struggling New York team and it’s hard to believe San Antonio isn’t the more likely team to win this one outright.

Prediction: Spurs +3 (-110)

The Under is 7-3 in New York’s 10 road games this season and it also happens to be 4-0-1 in the last five games San Antonio has played. The Knicks have been better offensively than they were a year ago, which has taken its toll on Thibodeau’s group on the other end of the floor. However, Thibodeau hasn’t been happy with that change, which is why he has shuffled the rotation. With that, look for New York to begin to play more grind-it-out games, like it did last year.

The Under is also 11-1 when the Knicks are on the road after back-to-back home games since the start of last season. It’s also 8-2 when New York is coming off an upset loss as a home favorite in that span.

Prediction: Under 213 (-110)

While the Spurs have been sliding down the ranks in the Western Conference over the last few years, they have still taken care of business against the Eastern Conference. Since the start of last year, San Antonio is 25-13 against the spread in non-conference games. The average score of those games had the Spurs winning by an average of 2.9 points, and they’ll once again be a threat to win outright here.

Not only has San Antonio played well against Eastern Conference opponents over the last two years, but the team is also  6-1 against the spread in its last seven games. That stretch included the Spurs earning a stunning road win against the Warriors and then nearly upsetting the Suns last night. This team is starting to find its groove and should be able to beat a Knicks team that has lost its way.

The Spurs are also 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games against the Knicks.

Pick: Spurs +3 (-110)
