Blue Jays Team Total Over 3.5 (-130)
The Atlanta Braves sure will be happy to see the Toronto Blue Jays pack up and leave town after today’s matinee matchup.
The Jays have beaten the Braves in all five of their matchups this season, outscoring them 35-16 in the process, and their team total for the series finale is sitting at a nice and low 3.5. This is a number the Jays have gone Over in 11 of their last 12 games, plating 6.25 runs per game over that 12-game stretch.
The Jays face Braves starter Charlie Morton in this one, and his first year in Atlanta has not gone smoothly. The right-hander has a 4.98 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP and has allowed four runs or more in four of his last five starts.
Then Morton hands the ball to a shaky Braves bullpen that ranks 22nd in ERA and 25th in WHIP. Just because this is a getaway game doesn’t mean the Jays’ bats will pack up early. Feel confident in them cashing another team total Over.
Cristian Javier Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-115)
Cristian Javier is coming off his worst start of the season, allowing five runs on four hits and four walks against the Blue Jays, but the Houston Astros starter has a great chance to bounce back today against the Texas Rangers.
Prior to the outing against the Jays, Javier had been dealing. The right-hander had a 1.75 ERA, limited opponents to a .170 batting average, and struck out 30 batters compared to just eight walks in 25 2-3 innings of work over five starts.
But even in that bad start against the Jays, Javier still managed to rack up eight punch-outs in 5 1-3 innings pitched. Now, Javier goes against a free-swinging Texas Rangers team. The Rangers rank 25th in strikeouts per game, getting punched out 9.84 times per contest.
Javier will use his electric slider to rack up the Ks in this one. Bet him to go Over his strikeout prop in this one.
Jesse Winker to Record 2+ Hits (+135)
We are going to continue to ride the red-hot bat of Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jesse Winker. The Reds slugger might be the best hitter in baseball you aren’t talking about.
Winker is currently on a six-game hitting streak that has seen his batting average rise to .375 and his OPS to 1.011. This is after a 12-gamer earlier in the season. During the current streak, Winker is 11-24 with five doubles and a dinger while recording four multi-hit games.
Thursday, he and the Reds open a series against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field where Chi Chi Gonzalez is first up in trying to slow down Winker.
It has been a tough season for Gonzalez, who is pitching to a 5.97 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP. Gonzalez just isn’t missing a lot of barrels at this point in the season and is getting hit hard as a result.
Mix in a Rockies bullpen that ranks 27th in ERA and 29th in WHIP and opponent batting average, and Winker will have a strong chance to get multiple hits in this one.
