MLB Player Props & Best Bets Today for June 18: Justin Time

Justin Verlander's strikeout prop is too low simply because he's coming off the IL. With the Bay Area backdrop behind him, he'll get at least four punchouts against the Guardians.

MLB props for June 18

Jacob Misiorowski Under 4.5 strikeouts (+100 at DraftKings)

Milwaukee Brewers rookie Jacob Misiorowski is making just his second big-league start, and the Chicago Cubs have the eighth-lowest strikeout percentage against righties while also sporting a sixth-ranked wOBA and ISO.

Make no mistake, Misiorowski has swing-and-miss stuff, but he also struggled with control and issued four free passes in his debut and only threw 49 of 81 pitches for strikes. The 23-year-old righty posted a 4.41 BB/9 across 63 1/3 innings in the minors to start the season, too.

Justin Verlander Over 3.5 strikeouts (-115 at DraftKings)

The Cleveland Guardians have a middling 21.2% strikeout rate against righties. San Francisco Giants righty Justin Verlander fanned four or more batters in four of five starts before his final outing before his IL stint with a pectoral injury.

Verlander completed a 65-pitch sim game last Wednesday and a bullpen session on Saturday, so I’m anticipating the veteran righty to have a long enough leash to rack up four or more punchouts tonight. His swinging-strike and called+swinging-strike percentages are at their highest since the 2022 campaign.

Stephen Kolek Under 16.5 outs recorded (-110 at Bet99)

San Diego Padres righty Stephen Kolek’s 4.34 xFIP is well above his 3.50 ERA, and his 8.1 K-BB% and 48.9 hard-hit rate are both low-end marks. Kolek has also surrendered a monster .384 wOBA to left-handed hitters.

Of course, the Los Angeles Dodgers also send an elite lineup to the dish with a top-ranked .351 wOBA against righties and .370 mark at Dodger Stadium. Add pacing the majors in walk rate and on-base percentage against right-handed arms, and there won’t be many easy outs for Kolek tonight.
