You don’t hear much about Nathan Eovaldi in this year’s AL Cy Young race, but perhaps we should.

There’s nothing better than some weekend baseball, and we’ve got a full 15-game slate with plenty of MLB player props to pick from.

My favorite MLB picks for Friday, August 22, include a couple of stars that have been heating up at the plate in Trea Turner and Brice Turang, plus Texas Rangers starter Nathan Eovaldi.

Best MLB player props today

  • TEAM Turang o1.5 hits, runs, and RBI (-105)

Our 3 best MLB player props for Friday, August 22

Take a look at our best bets and expert analysis below.

Trea Turner Over 2.5 hits, runs, and RBI (+120 at DraftKings)

Is anyone hitting the ball better than Trea Turner right now?

The Philadelphia Phillies shortstop is batting an insane .667 over the last seven days and leads the majors with 16 hits and nine runs scored despite appearing in just five games.

Turner is fresh off a five-hit performance against the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday, and he also posted three runs and two RBI in Philadelphia’s 11-2 win.

The Phillies’ leadoff man has eclipsed 2.5 hits, runs, and RBI in six of his last seven games. He should get a few more hits through against a Washington Nationals infield that grades out as the second-worst in the majors, according to THE BAT.

Nathan Eovaldi Under 2.5 earned runs (-160 at DraftKings)

Despite missing a month due to injury, Nathan Eovaldi owns a stingy 1.76 ERA along with a 0.87 WHIP and has been remarkably consistent this year. The Texas Rangers ace has allowed Under 2.5 earned runs in 18 of his 21 starts and seven of his last eight outings.

The right-hander should have the upper hand tonight against the Cleveland Guardians, who rank 26th in the majors with just 3.95 runs scored per game.

When it comes to facing right-handed pitching, Cleveland is 29th in batting average (.228), 28th in slugging percentage (.383), and 29th in runs scored (350).

Brice Turang Over 1.5 hits, runs, and RBI (-105 at SIA)

The Milwaukee Brewers are starting to run away with the NL Central, and that’s thanks in large part to the work of Brice Turang.

Entering tonight's matchup against the San Francisco Giants, the Brewers' second baseman leads his club in hits (132) and runs (77) this season and is batting .366 in August with 20 RBI in 19 games.

Turang has hit the Over on 1.5 hits, runs, and RBI in 12 of his last 14 starts, so the fact that we’re getting almost even money on this prop is an absolute steal.
