Game 1 of the ALCS is here, and my Guardians vs. Rays predictions are backing the well-rested home team tonight.

First pitch comes your way just after 8 p.m. ET on TBS.

Tampa Bay has had five days to prepare for this series, while the Guardians had to claw their way back from a 2-0 deficit in the ALDS. That will shape my MLB picks for Monday, Oct. 12.

 TOP PICK
Guardians vs Rays prediction: Rays -1.5

For help understanding probabilities, see our odds calculator.

It will be an all-time climb for the Cleveland Guardians to keep this train moving after winning three straight games to take down the White Sox in the ALDS to overcome a 2-0 series deficit. They did it by draining their entire pitching staff, and despite scoring a combined 20 runs over their last three games, they still aren't making much quality contact.

Sure, that has been the biggest gripe about the Tampa Bay Rays, but Cleveland isn't as well-rested or as talented, either. By first pitch, the Rays will have had five full days of rest to gear up for their World Series push.

Tampa Bay is coming off a three-game sweep of the Yankees, taking care of business against one of the best rotations in the American League. This series should look similar to what we saw against New York, minus the Yankees' extremely loaded pitching staff. The Guardians will have Gavin Williams and a plethora of young southpaws.

Right-hander Drew Rasmussen takes the mound for the Rays after a near-perfect ALDS performance in which he tossed eight innings, allowed just one hit, and struck out 10 Yankees.

If Rasmussen can hold down red-hot Jose Ramirez, the Rays should destroy the Guardians.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Guardians have posted a 37.4% hard-hit rate, 4% barrel rate, and a ground-ball rate of nearly 47% this postseason, per Handigraphs. Despite their uptick in production, they haven't been making quality contact.

Guardians vs Rays combo

If you combo every prop in this article, you'd get a cool, crisp 14.00x payout. If the Rays are going to do serious damage against the Guardians' tired arms, this is the way to attack. If you want to water it down a bit and swap Junior Caminero's home run for his HRR prop, the combo still pays 5.13x.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Aranda has made some of the lineup's best contact during the postseason, generating a 75% hard-hit rate and a 16.7% barrel rate while posting a .583 SLG and .250 ISO.

Guardians vs Rays combo

  • Rays -1.5
  • Junior Caminero home run
  • Jonathan Aranda Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI

Guardians vs Rays home run prediction: Junior Caminero

The face of the Rays boasts the highest matchup rating on Batters-Box's current-season ratings, making him the only hitter with an elite rating. Across 27 elite-rated matchups this season, Caminero has gone yard nearly 26% of the time.

Facing Guardians southpaw Foster Griffin, Caminero has fared very well against left-handed pitchers this season, especially at home, where he has recorded a 45.3% hard-hit rate and an elevation rate of nearly 60%.

With the Rays star boasting a 50% hard-hit rate and a 12.5% barrel rate in the early stages of the postseason, he could generate plenty of momentum for Tampa with one swing.

Take this down to 20%.

Guardians vs Rays player prop: Jonathan Aranda Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI

Easily one of my favorite Rays hitters, Jonathan Aranda is one of the most consistent bats in the lineup and has been seeing the ball very well to kick off the 2026 MLB postseason.

Although Aranda has only a favorable matchup rating on Batters-Box, he has cleared this prop more than 64% of the time in favorable matchups. The big fella also covers nearly 90% of Griffin's pitch mix.

Aranda closed out the regular season with a 50% hard-hit rate and a 13.2% barrel rate over his last 60 at-bats against southpaws.

Getting this prop at a probability below 50% is great value. Take this down to 50% at the most.

Side angle: This market isn't listed on Polymarket, but consider backing Ramirez to draw a walk. Rays manager Kevin Cash did not shy away from pitching to Ben Rice in the ALDS, but if you take the bat out of Ramirez's hands, the rest of the Guardians lineup is a corpse.
