The Toronto Blue Jays return to the World Series for the first time since winning consecutive championships in 1992 and 1993, while the Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to be the first back-to-back winners since 2000.

Toronto will host Game 1 tonight, and my Dodgers vs. Blue Jays predictions expect Los Angeles starter Blake Snell to lead the way in winning fashion.

Here are my full MLB picks for Friday, October 24.

First pitch is set for 8:00 p.m. ET from the Rogers Centre, with the game airing on FOX.

Dodgers vs Blue Jays Game 1 predictions

Who will win Dodgers vs Blue Jays Game 1

Blake Snell has been next to flawless this postseason and has a track record of playoff success, including a pair of World Series starts on his resume.

Toronto doesn’t have the same postseason experience on the mound or heading to the dish, and I’m expecting that to be a major difference in the series opener Friday night.

Dodgers vs Blue Jays best bet

Dodgers moneyline (-150)

The Los Angeles Dodgers send veteran lefty Blake Snell to the hill for Game 1, and he’s been nothing short of spectacular this season with a 2.35 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 3.09 xFIP with even better 0.86, 0.52, and 1.77 marks across a trio of playoff starts.

Snell also made two starts in the 2020 World Series and sports a career 2.58 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with a healthy 11.5 K/9 across 69 2/3 innings.

Only two Toronto Blue Jays regulars have faced Snell 10+ times, and the lefty has held them both in check, with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. posting a pedestrian .630 OPS, and George Springer only marginally better at .655.

Additionally, while the Blue Jays ranked fourth in wOBA against southpaws during the regular season, they dropped to 12th in ISO and had the fifth-highest BABIP.

For comparison, the Dodgers were third in wOBA, fourth in ISO, and 17th in BABIP against righties.

While we now know that 22-year-old rookie Trey Yesavage will start Game 1 for the Blue Jays, I’m giving the pitching edge to Los Angeles in the series opener.

Dodgers vs Blue Jays Game 1same-game parlay (SGP)

Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts have both had solid postseasons with respective .375 and .353 wOBAs. Ohtani has six extra-base hits, and Betts has five.

I also value Betts having 84 games of postseason experience, while Ohtani is up to 26 and a climbing .848 OPS across 124 plate appearances.

Dodgers vs Blue Jays SGP (+425)

  • Dodgers -1.5 (+118)
  • Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 total bases (-110)
  • Mookie Betts Over 1.5 total bases (+120)

Dodgers vs Blue Jays home run pick for Game 1

Freddie Freeman (+525)

Freddie Freeman hit 16 of his 24 regular-season homers with a .201 ISO against right-handed pitchers, and he has eight career homers with a .266 ISO against active Toronto pitchers.

Dodgers vs Blue Jays latest injuries

Bo Bichette is active and expected to play tonight. The Blue Jays added him to their World Series roster after a six-week absence with a sprained left knee, and he’s in Game 1’s lineup batting cleanup and starting at second base.

Bichette hasn’t played since September 6, so Toronto may monitor his mobility and could pivot to DH if needed, but he’s been cleared to return.

His bat lengthens the order behind Vladimir Guerrero Jr., while any baserunning or lateral-movement limitations could slightly impact defense.

Meanwhile, left-handed reliever Alex Vesia has been left off the Dodgers’ World Series roster due to a personal matter. Vesia has been a key southpaw specialist for L.A. over the years, posting an ERA+ above 130 in four of the past five seasons.

Dodgers vs Blue Jays weather

Afternoon showers are expected to fade into a cool, clearing evening with temperatures around 50°F at first pitch, sliding into the mid-40s by late innings.

Because Rogers Centre has a retractable roof and the home club decides based on conditions and fan comfort, the early rain and chilly temps make a closed roof more likely. If it does start open, it can be closed mid-game if conditions warrant.

A closed roof would mute weather variables, tilting things slightly toward pitchers and clean defense, with the cooler air also tamping down ball carry a bit.

If the Jays opt to keep it open, the late-evening chill would still make the park play bigger than a warm summer night, favoring line-drive contact over towering fly balls; fielders should appreciate the dry conditions after the afternoon showers.

Either way, expect fewer weather-driven surprises than you’d get outdoors, and a result decided more by execution than the elements.
