Angel Reese and the Dream have too much talent for a Sparks team that's playing out the string, which will lead to a road cover for Atlanta tonight.

The Atlanta Dream will try to continue a strong West Coast road trip as they visit the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday night.

Atlanta has too much for an anemic Los Angeles offense, and I'm taking the Dream to cover in my Dream vs. Sparks predictions. Let's break down this matchup with my free WNBA picks for Thursday, Aug. 20.

Dream vs Sparks prediction

Dream vs Sparks best bet: Dream -8.5 -115

The Atlanta Dream are on the verge of clinching a playoff spot, and can get even closer tonight against a Los Angeles Sparks team riding a five-game losing streak.

The Dream rank fourth in the WNBA in both point differential and net rating. They also dominate the boards, ranking second in rebounding rate (53.6%).

The Sparks have struggled on defense all season, allowing 92.7 ppg. Lately, that's been paired with a flat offense that's scored only 81.4 ppg over its last seven contests.

Atlanta will dominate this matchup, and I'd back the Dream giving up to 9.5 points.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Dream hold opponents to a league-worst 1.18 assist-to-turnover rate, which will prove problematic for a Sparks team that commits 14.8 turnovers per game.

Dream vs Sparks same-game parlay

The anemic Sparks offense has led Los Angeles to play to low totals in recent weeks, hitting the Under in six of its last seven games. And while the Dream play fast and have plenty of offensive firepower, they've also hit the Under in five of their last six.

I'm riding those trends and taking the Under again tonight.

I'll also back Angel Reese to grab Over 12.5 rebounds. Reese has hit this total in six of her last eight games, and gets to face off against arguably the worst rebounding team in the league, as Los Angeles has a WNBA-low 46.7% rebounding rate.

Reese will have her way on the glass tonight.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
