The Milwaukee Brewers are short home favorites over the visiting Chicago Cubs ahead of the 2:10 p.m. ET first pitch at American Family Field on Monday, Sept. 7.

My top Cubs vs. Brewers predictions and MLB picks are calling for Chicago to put too many runs on the board for Milwaukee to keep pace in a high-scoring series opener this afternoon.

Who will win Cubs vs Brewers today: Cubs moneyline (47.4%)

For help understanding probabilities, see our odds calculator.

The Chicago Cubs pace the majors in wOBA, xwOBA, and ISO across the past two weeks, in addition to leading the way in wOBA against lefties for the season.

Chicago also dialed in for a healthy 38.5% hard-hit rate against Milwaukee Brewers southpaw Robert Gasser in his most recent start on Sept. 1.

So, with the Cubbies seeing Gasser for the second time in less than a week, I’m anticipating Chicago putting crooked numbers on the scoreboard this afternoon.

Of course, Chicago lefty Matthew Boyd has been far sharper on the road, with his 5.40 ERA at Wrigley Field dipping to a tidy 2.80 mark on the highway.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Cubs starter Matthew Boyd has held opponents to a pedestrian .274 wOBA and .102 ISO across his past five road starts.

Cubs vs Brewers Over/Under pick: Over 8.5 (50.2%)

Before a 2-1 snoozer in the series finale Sept. 3, the Cubs and Brewers combined for 47 runs across the first three games, including 13 in the tilt Boyd and Gasser started.

Additionally, even with Boyd’s highlighted numbers on the road, his underlying 4.60 xERA and 4.64 xFIP shouldn’t instill oodles of confidence that he can hold the Brew Crew completely in check.

Chicago has been printing money on the Over, too, with the Cubs going Over the number in 28 of their last 45 games for +10.65 units and a 22% ROI.

Cubs vs Brewers home run prediction: Seiya Suzuki (15.9%)

Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki has crushed lefties with a .256 ISO and is ripe to leave the yard this afternoon considering he’s only hit two homers across his past 18 games. Gasser has also allowed a healthy 1.76 HR/9 and .194 ISO to right-handed hitters.

Cubs vs Brewers weather

The retractable roof will be open at American Family Field, and the forecast calls for warm temperatures near 75°F and clear skies that should provide a slight edge for hitters this afternoon.
