An AL East showdown between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox takes place this afternoon at Fenway Park.

The Red Sox offense is in a funk right now and hasn’t had much success against Chris Bassitt since he signed in Toronto, and my Blue Jays prediction is Bassitt's success vs. Boston will continue here.

Blue Jays predictions for June 28

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Bassitt finds his groove

Chris Bassitt Over 17.5 outs (-133 at BetVictor)

The Toronto Blue Jays silenced the Red Sox bats last night, limiting the club to just four hits. Toronto will look to have similar success in this afternoon’s contest when it sends Chris Bassitt to the mound.

Bassitt has been a beacon of consistency this season for Toronto, pitching deep into ball games all year long.

He's also had a lot of success against the Red Sox through his career with a 2.84 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 11 starts, while never allowing more than two earned runs and pitching at least six innings in eight of those appearances.

Moreover, Bassitt has had considerable success against this iteration of the Red Sox lineup, specifically. Boston’s lineup is hitting just .200 against him with a mediocre .500 OPS, while not allowing a single long ball to any of the 85 batters he’s faced.

Additionally, Boston is currently in an offensive slump. The BoSox were shut out by the Jays’ pitching staff last night and have managed just 2.66 runs per game during this current six-game losing streak. As a group, they’re batting .202 in that span with 60 strikeouts.

Going up against an innings-eating veteran like Bassitt will make it hard to bust out of this slump, especially with his ability to limit hard contact at Fenway.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Chris Bassitt Over 17.5 outs

Chris Bassitt Over 5.5 strikeouts

Bo Bichette Over 0.5 hits

The BoSox have the third-highest K rate in baseball, striking out 24.2% of the time. Meanwhile, Bassitt averages 5.6 punchouts per start.

Bo Bichette has recorded at least one hit in six of his last seven games and is hitting .412 with a 1.150 OPS vs Red Sox starter Lucas Giolito.
