Blue Jays Picks, Predictions & Best Bets vs the Red Sox for April 30

Bo Bichette and Vlad Guerrero Jr. are, more or less, the only Blue Jays bats doing any damage. We expect that to continue against Red Sox starter Lucas Giolito, who is making his first appearance since 2023.

The Toronto Blue Jays are going to need some more major-league bats if they want this season to mean anything.

Because right now, it’s Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and not much else. Here’s hoping those two can jump on Boston Red Sox starter Lucas Giolito, who is making his first start since 2023.

My Blue Jays predictions and MLB picks bring you a best bet and a same-game parlay for today’s matchup that relies on Toronto’s best bats.

Blue Jays predictions for April 30

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Bo Your Own Way

Bo Bichette Over 0.5 doubles (+225 at BetVictor)

It was another tough result for the Toronto Blue Jays, as they dropped the opener of their series with the Boston Red Sox by a score of 10-2.

It wasn’t just Toronto’s eighth loss in nine games, but it was the sixth time in seven games the team scored two runs or fewer.

Yes, the Blue Jays' lineup is a problem.

Simply put, there are not enough major-league bats behind Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. but at least those two are doing their best to keep this team afloat.

Bichette has the fifth-most hits in the American League and an expected batting average that ranks in the 98th percentile. He had another two hits in last night’s loss.

Meanwhile, Guerrero went deep for the third time this season, scoring the team’s only two runs, scoring Bichette, of course. Vladdy has been hitting the ball hard and often, ranking in the 91st percentile or better in xBA, hard-hit percentage, and bat speed, so it’s good to see some production from Toronto's franchise player.

The Jays are hoping these two lead the way in tonight’s matchup against Lucas Giolito and the Red Sox.

The 30-year-old right-hander hasn’t pitched since 2023 due to injuries but is set to make his 2025 — and Red Sox — debut tonight.

The former top prospect of the Washington Nationals had some good seasons with the Chicago White Sox but pitched to a 4.89 ERA while surrendering a .255 batting average and a .796 OPS to opponents between 2022-23.

And while it’s been a couple of years, Bichette has enjoyed this matchup with Giolito. The Blue Jays shortstop is 5-for-14 with two doubles and a home run in his career vs. Giolito. That’s good for a .357 average and a 1.114  OPS.

Meaning Bichette has hit the ball hard off Giolito in the past and I’m betting he gets an extra-base hit against the Red Sox’s starter tonight. Bichette’s nine doubles this season ranks fifth in AL, including the one he hit last night. Let’s take him to make it two in a run for a nice plus-money win.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Bo Bichette Over 0.5 doubles

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 0.5 RBI

Alejandro Kirk Over 0.5 hits

Just like last night, we’re expecting Bichette to get on base, so let’s bet on Guerrero to drive him in.

The power is starting to come back to Vladdy’s bat, now having hit home runs in two of his last four games. Considering what his advanced stats were saying, this should have always been expected, but it’s nice for Jays fans to see.

Guerrero has a 1.026 OPS over his last four games with four RBI. He makes it five tonight.

And let's round this SGP out with Alejandro Kirk to get a knock against Giolito. Kirk is another bat the Jays would love to get going but he has four hits in his last three games and is 4-for-11 in his career vs. Giolito with, get this, three dingers.
