The Cleveland Guardians are home favorites over the Chicago White Sox ahead of their 6:40 p.m. ET first pitch at Progressive Field on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

My top White Sox vs. Guardians predictions and MLB picks expect Chicago to pull off the road upset, with the total going Over the number tonight.

Who will win White Sox vs Guardians today: White Sox moneyline (43%)

For help understanding probabilities, see our odds calculator.

I’m bullish on the Chicago White Sox moneyline to 45% because they’re tied for second in wOBA against lefties since the All-Star break, and Cleveland Guardians starter Foster Griffin has struggled since joining the club.

Griffin sports a 5.18 xERA and 4.33 xFIP while allowing a healthy 35.8% hard-hit rate through his seven starts with Cleveland, and Chicago is also in solid offensive form.

The White Sox rank eighth in xwOBA across the past 30 days, while the Guardians check in 25th. Additionally, Chicago ranks 28th in BABIP despite sitting ninth in blast-contact percentage during the stretch, so the Pale Hose are set for a splash of statistical correction with the wind blowing out at Progressive Field tonight.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Guardians have the lowest barrel percentage in the majors since the calendar flipped to September.

White Sox vs Guardians Over/Under pick: Over 8.5 (52%)

With ideal hitting conditions, the White Sox aren’t the only team positioned to put runs on the board, so this Over has my attention to 54%.

Chicago is scheduled to have Chris Murphy open before giving way to Davis Martin for a bulk appearance, and Martin’s underlying 4.74 xERA and 5.46 xFIP across his two starts since returning from a finger blister shouldn’t instill confidence.

The Guardians have struck out at the fourth-lowest rate in baseball over the past 30 days, so I’m expecting them to also chip in offensively tonight.

White Sox vs Guardians home run prediction: Miguel Vargas (19%)

White Sox slugger Miguel Vargas boasts a high-end .290 ISO against lefties, and Griffin has allowed a 37.9% hard-hit rate to right-handed hitters this season. I also value Vargas snapping out of a 6-for-33 slump to go alongside a .410 OPS with his two-run homer in the series opener last night.
