      Indiana sports betting updates

The Supreme Court’s (SCOTUS) ruling to overturn PASPA — the federal ban on single-game wagering — was the last domino to fall for Indiana to legalize sports wagering. The state’s sports betting legislation faced opposition on several fronts, including mobile sports wagering. It wasn’t until 2019 that the Indiana Legislature approved the bill, clearing the way for mobile and in-person wagering.

Speaking on the legislation, Gov. Eric Holcomb said: “By modernizing our laws, this legislation will spur positive economic growth for our state and for an industry that employs over 11,000 Hoosiers.”

Take a look at our timeline of Indiana's sports betting industry:

Dec. 11, 2025: Indiana Rep. Ethan Manning has introduced HB1052, which would outlaw sweepstakes casinos, with operators and payment providers in violation of the bill potentially facing fines of up to $100,000.

Sept. 29, 2025: Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza apologized to sports bettors following his Hoosiers’ 20-15 win against the Iowa Hawkeyes, saying sorry for blowing Indiana’s chance at covering the spread as he ran into his own end zone for a safety during the final seconds of the game.

July 8, 2025: bet365 becomes the official sportsbook partner of the WNBA's Indiana Fever.

June 16, 2025: Indiana's sports betting market posted another strong month in May with sportsbooks reporting a 12.3% revenue increase on the total reported during the same time in 2024.

June 12, 2025: Billionaire rapper and businessman Jay-Z loses a $1 million dollar bet after wagering the Oklahoma City Thunder would win the NBA Finals over the Indiana Pacers in 5 games.

June 5, 2025: Despite being the largest underdogs in NBA Finals history, the Indiana Pacers received $10,000 worth of support from one confident sports bettor at +475 odds, which would pay out $47.5k.

June 3, 2025: An Indiana gambler hit a rare royal flush at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada, winning a $128,774 jackpot instantly.

June 3, 2025: With the 157th edition of the Belmont Stakes at Saratoga Race Course set for Saturday, Caesars Entertainment announced it has added pari-mutuel horse racing wagering into its sportsbook in Indiana and Illinois.

June 2, 2025: At +530 to win, an implied probability of just 15.9% at FanDuel, the Indiana Pacers will become the largest underdogs ever to win the NBA Finals if they are victorious against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

May 20, 2025: NBA Conference Finals presents contrasting betting availability, with the East teams (Pacers, Knicks) seeing full wagering access, but the west squads (Timberwolves and Thunder) shut out as Minnesota and Oklahoma remain two of 11 states that haven’t approved any form of legal sports betting.

May 17, 2025: Barstool founder Dave Portnoy won $325k betting on Caitlin Clark to record a triple-double, which she accomplished in the Indiana Fever's victory over the Chicago Sky.

May 5, 2025: Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is dwarfing other players in WNBA MVP betting, as she's getting 64.2% of the money at BetMGM and 66% of the handle at FanDuel to win WNBA MVP.

April 14, 2025: Indiana's $553.6 million handle represented a 10.5% growth year-over-year, compared to March 2024, however the $35.8 million in adjusted gaming revenue (AGR) was 10.2% lower than the previous year’s total.

Feb. 14, 2025: Online casinos won’t be coming to Indiana in 2025. A bill that projected $300 million in extra tax revenue for the Hoosier State faced too many obstacles, with the complexity of the bill making it difficult for lawmakers to reach a consensus.

There are few limitations for Indianans, but the lack of college player prop betting and constraints placed on in-play betting do leave something to be desired.

        • No deposit bonus: This credit is applied automatically to your account upon registration and serves as a small cash amount that must be wagered before it can be withdrawn.

        4

        Choose your bet

Indianans can make nearly any sports bet online or at a retail sportsbook. These bets include the moneyline, Over/Under (totals), futures, and point spreads. Notably, there is no college player proposition betting in the Hoosier State.

Although Indianans can make live in-game bets, these wagers are made during commercial breaks.

        5

        Deposit

Sports bettors can sign-up and place their first deposit online moments after completing the registration process. Indiana betting sites support the best sportsbook deposit and withdrawal methods.

        6

        Start betting

Before placing their first bets, sports gamblers should familiarize themselves with each bet type provided by their chosen sportsbook. Once the risk/reward is understood and accepted and players have shopped around for the best lines, they can confidently place a wager.

        7

        Withdraw

Winnings are typically withdrawn using the same method used for the deposit, but some Indiana online sportsbooks may allow you to use a different method to withdraw your funds.

        Odds explained

Indiana sports betting sites display American odds as the default option. The favorites are designated by a minus (-) sign and indicate the amount you have to wager to win $100. If the odds state -150, you’d need to bet $150 to register a $100 profit.

Conversely, a plus (+) sign is used for underdogs and indicates the amount you’ll win if you bet $100. For example, +200 odds translates to a $200 profit from a $100 wager. The larger payout reflects the underdog designation since they are less likely to win.

Moneyline odds are also displayed for futures odds and props, too. Players who are most familiar with decimal odds may view odds this way with some Indiana sportsbooks. Use our odds converter to toggle between American, decimal, or fractions.

What you can't bet on in Indiana

        Indiana sportsbooks conclusion

There's plenty of room for growth in an already competitive Indiana sports betting market. Each of the 15 sports betting licensees in the state is permitted to partner with up to three Indiana sportsbooks.

As more betting sites enter the fray, Indiana bettors can continue to claim sign-up bonuses, track down favorable betting lines, and bet on the most popular betting markets. Sports gamblers in neighboring Ohio and Kentucky can also visit the Hoosier State to take advantage of everything the top IN sportsbooks have to offer.
